Northeastern University Admission Essay

In recent years, the business world has rapidly developed across borders. And anyone with high goals in the
business world must have an international perspective and be aware of the realities of different international
arenas. I believe that the ambitious dreams that I wish to fulfil can be through international graduate education.
I wish to learn about international business culture from diverse individuals from around the globe and work in
cross-cultural teams while being on the ground in a different country. At Northeastern University, I can get the
opportunity to gain practical knowledge about international management and add to my current theoretical
understanding of business. I can strengthen my business acumen, develop my leadership capabilities, observable
skills across key competencies, and become a future leader in global business.

In my short term career, I want to start my career in the consulting industry. I developed a passion for consulting
after completing the virtual internship program for BCG through the TheForage website during the lockdown
period in July. The Go to Market BCG program tested my analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities to
solve strategically different company problems. Also, the summer school program at Imperial College London
on Business Strategy & Consulting course helped develop the skills required for consulting. In 2021, I was a
part of the first-ever virtual HPAIR conference by Harvard College. During the conference, I was privileged to
listen to Mr Kevin Sneader, Ex-Global Managing Partner of McKinsey & Company. He gave guidance on
problem-solving in the new normal. His advice on real-world problem-solving in an ambiguous environment
gave me hope that I too can contribute my efforts to this new evolving world in the near future. The International
Management program gives me a foundation for understanding strategy and management consulting and will
aid me in my journey toward my dream career in the consulting industry. I am interested in learning more about
industry leaders like McKinsey, Bain, and BCG through this program.

My long-term professional goals are to work in the management consulting industry and get to the partner level.
I also would love to get involved in the private equity and venture capital industry and aid the startups and
company employees with the knowledge I acquire through graduate business school and work experience.

I decided to apply at Northeastern University because I can personalize the curriculum based on my preferences
and learn the core subjects related to cultural agility, leadership, and workforce management. I could get an
opportunity to develop my analytical and critical thinking skills to find answers to challenging and exciting
questions. This course will provide me with a platform to think strategically and enable me to apply ideas in the
real world and solve problems across industries around the globe in the new normal. Along with studies and
lectures, I want to participate in extracurricular activities such as business case projects, competitions,
International Field study, and workshops. These will help me become great a team person and a leader that leads
by example.

As Northeastern University is located at the heart of Boston it provides a platform to explore the best opportunity
outside of my comfort zone and get accustomed to the dynamic neighbourhood around the city. After thorough
research of various programs, I was motivated to learn International Management to understand international
markets and management consulting and get equipped with practical hands-on experience and strategies to solve
real-world issues. These skills will help me to work in various markets and businesses in different countries in
the future. 'The Consulting Program' will allow me to work in teams to solve a real business problem for the
university’s corporate partners and present my work to the companies. These opportunities will help me become
a strong candidate in the job market.

Northeastern’s D’Amore-McKim School of Business will provide me with great learning opportunities from
the best professors about the practical aspects of international management through rigorous course work, group
discussions, training sessions, workshops, analyses, research, networking events, and also alumni support.
Networking on a personal and professional level with a diverse pool of students, teachers, careers teams, alumni,
and the rest of the staff will help me understand different ideas and perspectives. Also, the Graduate Career
Center advisors will help me reach my goals through personalised feedback and valuable tools to help me
prepare for interviews. These opportunities will allow me to improve my CV and applications for Graduate jobs.

During this program, I want to develop selflessness, empathy, emotional intelligence, intellectual humility,
perseverance, and coaching to become a good leader in the future. I want to inspire the people around me and
work towards helping the people in need. Also, I am patiently ambitious that when we get to the other side of
this pandemic, we all will learn to lead with a sense of safety and empathy, not just in crisis, but also in peace.
