If you were the lawyer who presided the case of the land dispute in Calamba, will you side to the
Dominicans who have done you favors to keep your position or to your fellow town folk who demand an
explanation as to why the Dominicans were keeping secrets to them regarding taxes and land
ownership?

I wanted to be fair and treat everyone equally if I were the judge in the Calamba land dispute case, so
it is obvious that I am not supporting the Dominicans or even my own countrymen; in other words, I
do not take sides. Yes, I should be grateful to the Dominicans for letting me keep my employment, but
being ungrateful while acknowledging this debt to them would be wrong. On the other hand, I want
to hear what my fellow citizens are fighting for and the reasons behind their demands. However, as
one of the law's protectors and a lawyer, I have a responsibility to help resolve the issue at hand, in
this case the land dispute in Calamba, and to offer legal advice and counsel. I will prevail in this
scenario by upholding fairness, paying attention to both sides, and preventing intolerance.
