I.

Background

Master Siomai began as Masterrific Foods back in 1999 as a company


specializing in the production and distribution of processed meat such as ham,
bacon, burger patties and siomai to its diverse clientele ranging from hotels,
restaurants and market places. By the year 2007 the Company ventured into Food
Cart and Franchising of its siomai products under the brand name Master Siomai
and later on the company became MC Master Siomai Hut, Inc.

Since its founding as a food cart franchising business in 2007, MC Master


Siomai Hut, Inc. has become the country’s leading manufacturer and distributor of
siomai products. Contributing to the company’s phenomenal success is its use of
state-of-the-art innovative equipment which allows for a faster, safer, and more
voluminous production. Having 900+ outlets all over the Philippines, Master Siomai
has amplified its reach to different types of markets.

II. Statement of the Problem


a. Master Siomai decided to have a location where the customer could
enter the store comfortably. Some of the stores of their business is just
a food stall because it takes up a small space. Some of their locations
or stalls can be seen in the mall.
b. They can make a Resource audit as a strategy so they can have a
supply of raw materials and meet the expected amount of the product.
They also used Market audit as a strategy because it can help them to
understand what services are in need. Master Siomai could also
determine the market demand if it aligns with their goals and market
strategy.
c. The following are the organizational considerations of Master Siomai
implementing its strategies:
i. People and Systems - The franchise of owner of Master Siomai
is required to attend business operations meetings and the crew
will also attend training and orientation for them to be able to
know how to manage Master Siomai Franchise and also for
them to have knowledge and to develop skills.
ii. Communication - They required the franchise owner and the
food-stall crew to attend orientation to inform them about the
company strategy.
d. The Franchise owner of Master Siomai demonstrate a compliance with
a various regulations for cleanliness for their crew’s health and safety.
Safety rules and procedures are well cascaded to their staff.
e. Master Siomai did not specify what type of maintenance method is
being employed in their company.

III. Summary of Findings


a. Master siomai is the #1 Siomai Brand known in Luzon, Visayas and
Mindanao. Ernie Chan is the current CEO & Franchisor of Master
Siomai. Ernie Chan was just a salesman before he built Master Siomai
because he loves to cook and he really likes siomai. He thought of the
name Master Siomai because it is catchy and it also sounded.There
are different kinds of siomai and these are the Pork & shrimp siomai,
Japanese siomai, Beef siomai, Chicken siomai, Tuna siomai and the
Sharksfin siomai. Master siomai is better known because of the soft
texture of their siomai and children like to eat their siomai. Master
siomai is very popular among Filipinos, it has become known all over
the Philippines. They have almost over 900 outlets across the country.
The continued growth of their brand has paved the way for them to
launch two new products and franchising concepts. Master siomai is
one of the recognized brands or trademarks that can guarantee your
success in entering the Franchising Food Stall. One of their keys to
success is credited to their own Japanese style siomai. The Master
Siomai concept is inspired by the food cart and designed in a way
where light and pleasant atmosphere will be contributed. The primary
motivation of Master Siomai is to be approachable. They are driven to
satisfy both the taste buds and also pockets of the modern Pinoy with
only the best products made from the best ingredients using innovative
technology and a skilled workforce.

b. The Researchers gathered data and have discussed that Master


Siomai aims to address customers’ food needs with a safe, healthy and
very convenient way. Their Siomai target costumers that can afford
their product prices. Most especially to students, employees that has
small time of break and those people doesn’t enough time to prepare
for their meal. Also Master Siomai have fulfilled the part of customer’s
thirsty with their gulaman pandan drink to serve as liquid refreshment.
And with regards of their Maintenance Planning they ensures that have
a quality product, reduces product overruns and assures product safety
of their stakeholders interest. Lastly, Setting sustainability into action
which enables for continuous manufacturing of products and service
delivery must be ongoing.

IV. Alternative Courses of Action

a. The other types of maintenance method that must be employed by the


company in order to promote a smooth and effective business
operation are Conditioned-Based Maintenance and Corrective
Maintenance.
b. Advantages and Disadvantages
The objective of Condition-Based Maintenance is to track and
identify impending equipment failure so that proactive maintenance can
be planned for when it is required, not before. Employing
Condition-Based Maintenance can help improve the lifespan and
minimize loss of function and failure of the machine that is being used
by Master Siomai to produce their products. Production will barely be
interrupted as CBM can be performed while the machine is working
and the normal operation will be continuous. The disadvantage of using
this maintenance method is that CBM’s installation is expensive and it
needs trained employees for performing this maintenance.
Corrective Maintenance involves very minimal effort, expense,
and preparation because it focuses on fixing or restoring an asset
when it breaks. This type of maintenance is not costly as you need to
take care of the problem when it occurs and it does not need to track,
monitor and manage the situation. It also requires minimal planning or
management. The disadvantage of using this maintenance method is
that since the machine is only fixed when the problem occurs, it can
cause an interruption on the production of the Master Siomai’s
products. Fixing the problem during the occurrence could lead to the
lifespan of the machine to be shortened.

V. Recommendations

The following are suggested as potential case study topics considering the study's
limitations and conclusions:

through scheduled Condition-based maintenance. It makes use of the building
