DETAILED

LESSON PLAN
IN MATHEMATICS
I. Objectives

At the end of the lesson, the students should be able to:

• organize data from tabular form to line graph

• interpret the data presented in a line graph

• construct a line graph using tabular form
II. Subject Matter
a. Topic: Line Graph
b. References: https://www.slideshare.net/GradeSix1/graphs-36766192
c. Materials: visual aids, colored paper, chalk nd manila paper.
d. Value Integration: Cooperation
e. Strategies: 4A’s

III. Methodology
Teacher’s Activity Student’s Activity
A. PRELIMINARY ACTIVITIES

I. Prayer
I am requesting everybody to
please stand for the prayer and
feel the presence of our Lord.
(the student will stand)

Ivonne kindly lead us a prayer

“Thank you God for this day, please guide
us, help us to learn, play and share our
ideas in class.
In the name of the Father, of the son and
the holy spirit, amen.

II. Greetings:
Good morning class! How are
you today?

Good morning ma’am! We’re good

ma’am.
III. Cheking of Attendance:
May I ask the secretary , who
is/are the absent today?
No one is absent today, ma’am

IV. Review
Before we start to the new
lesson, do you still remember
the lesson that we discuss last
meeting?
Yes ma’am

(Call a student)
Then what is our lesson last
meeting?
Our topic last meeting is bar graph
Okay very good! Our topic last
meeting is bar graph. A bar graph
are the pictorial representation
of data in the form of vertical and
horizontal rectangular bars.

B. DEVELOPMENTAL ACTIVITY

I. Motivation

Before we proceed to our next

lesson, we will have first an activity, it
is called "MATHching a word in a
picture" I will paste a picture in the
board and I have here a small box that
have a different words and you will
going to pick a word in a box and
match it according to the picture. The
one that participate will have a
reward

Column A

Inside the box:

• Wavy
• Zigzag
• Graph
• Curved
• Straight
• Broken

(Call a students)

• Straight

• Curved

• Broken

• Wavy

• Zigzag

.
• Graph

Good job! Thank you for your

Cooperation class!

Presentation
In this picture, what do you think
is our lesson for today? Do you
have any idea?
(Students raise their hands)
(Call a student)
Our topic for today is Line graph and
its part
Thank you, that was a great idea!
Today we are going to discuss not
just a line graph but we are also
going to learn the parts of line
graph.

C. LESSON PROPER
1. Activity:
Let's have another activity, I have
here a different words and find the
missing term of each part.

• Scale
• Labels
• Line
• Point
• Title
Very good class, that will serve as your
guide as we discuss the line graph.

2. Analysis
Let’s discuss a line graph.

Kindly read everybody (Students read the meaning of a line

A line graph, also known as a line chart graph)
or a line plot, it is a graphical
representation of information that
changes over a period of time.

Example
Annie’s grouped surveyed 30 learners on
their favorite fruits for their report. Here
are the result

Can you tell by looking at the data if

how many answered they prefer such
fruit? Yes ma’am, but it is not easy to tell

Okay in able to easily answer the data

we can organize or group the data
using a table called a frequency table.

Organizing Data in a Tabular form

After organizing the data in a

tabular form. This can be presented in
a line graph.

Steps in presenting data in a line

graph

• draw the x and y-axis

• use the data from the table to label
the axes
• plot the points that correspond to
each variable in the table
• connect the points with a line
segment
• put a title on the graph
Interpret the line graph. And I have a
questions.

• What do you think is the title of the

graph?
(Student raise their hands)
(Call a students)
Survey on the learners favorite fruits
• How many learners choose banana
as their favorite fruits?
5 ma’am
• How about grapes?
7 ma’am
• How about mango?
10 ma’am
• How about apple?
8 ma’am
• What fruit is the most favorite?
Mango
• What fruit is the least favorite?

Banana
• How many learners participated in
the survey?
30 ma’am
Okay very good!

3.Abstraction

Remember that a line graph has a

vertical and horizontal line. Line graph
helps to see clearly the changes in the
data presented.

Earlier I said the steps in constructing

a line graph.
What is the first step in constructing
a line graph?
Draw the x and y-axis

What about the second step? Use the data from the table to label
the axes

What about the third step?

Plot the points that correspond to
each variable in the table
What about the fourth step?
Connect a points with a line segment

And the last step?

Put the title on the graph

Very good class! I’m great that you

are listening to the discussion.

Do you have any questions?

None ma’am

4.Application
I will give you an activity.

Using this line graph, I will ask you

some questions.

What is the title of the graph?

Hannah’s Bike Trip
What does the horizontal and vertical
axis represent? Minutes and miles from home

How long did it take Hannah to get 4

miles from her home? 60 minutes

Evaluation
The following table gives information
on the fruit sales in a market.
Construct a line graph using the table

Very good! I’m glad that you really

know
how to construct a line graph.

Assignment

The table represents Aliyah’s

allowance in school for five months.
Draw a line graph using the
information provided.
