Student 1: Our last topic was all about graphs.

Very good! What have you learned from that lesson?

Student 2: I’ve learned that graphs have four (4) types.

Bar graph, Line graph, Pie graph and Pictograph.
Very well said!

Now, let’s proceed to our next topic.

B. Development Activities

1. Activity
Group Activity: The leader must list down the needed
information from the members.

Now, let us check your answers

2. Analysis

Based on the given table, do you think it is easy to

understand the data?
Yes ma’am, by filling in the needed information to the
table we can say it is very easy to understand the data
through its rows and columns.
Very good!

Based on the activity, do you have any idea on what will be

our topic for today?

Ma’am, I think our lesson for today is all about Tables.

Very good!

3. Abstraction

What is Table? Please read everyone. Tables are commonly used to record facts in a
simplified and organized manner. The boxes across the
(Presenting Visual Aids) page are rows and the boxes going down the page are
columns. The first row and first column in a table are
considered headers that identifies the information.

Table is an organized arrangement of data usually in rows

and columns.

I will show you a sample table.

Based on the table I’ve shown, what section has the (Students possible answer)
highest male enrollees?
Section Rose
What section has the highest female enrollees?
Section Gumamela
What section has the highest enrollees?
Section Gumamela

Very Good!

A table is also good for organizing data in a way that it is

easy to look things up. For example, a table would be a
good way to associate a person’s name, age, and a
favorite food.

4. Application

Create a table using the given expository text.

The table provides information about the weekly
food consumption of people in a particular
European country in three years (1992, 2002, and
2012).

Overall, vegetables made up the largest part of

diets in all three years, while cheese made up the
smallest portion of people’s food intake. It is also
notable that the trends remained the same over
the three given years. The consumption of
vegetables and meat was the highest in diets in
1992, at 2140 grams and 1148 grams respectively.
The number of vegetables people consumed rose
slightly over the years to reach 2220 grams in
2012. There was a small increase of more than 60
grams in the amount of meat in 2002; however,
the figure dropped back to 1132 grams in 2012.
Wheat, beans, and cheese made up the rest of
diets, at 837 grams, 532 grams, and 113 grams
respectively in 1992. These figures all grew over
the next twenty years to reach 977 grams, 590
grams, and 125 grams respectively in 2012.
