Introduction
Using technology, diversity, and digital citizenship in the new lesson has changed and
improved the lesson in many ways. The new lesson will improve the learning experience for my
young students. The new lesson has several activities for students to complete. The activities in
the lesson fits my student’s different learning styles and abilities. This lesson includes songs,
interactive games, and an assessment for students. This lesson should take one day for students
to complete.
Technology Decisions
Technology was used throughout the entire lesson. Technology was used during teacher
modeling, guided practice, independent practice and the closing of the lesson. When designing
the new lesson, I used the ASSURE model. The ASSURE model focuses on the learner. The first
step of the ASSURE model is to analyze your learners. I chose the activities in the new lesson
based on my learner’s age and abilities. My students are very young and have never used a
computer. My activities in the new lesson is simple and easy for my students to use. The
technology I decided to use in the lesson was Abcya.com, Seesaw, and Smart Notebook. These
The technology tools that are used in the lesson are new to my students. In my
kindergarten classroom, many of my students have never been to school. This will be their first
time using a computer. Before teaching this lesson, I would introduce how to use the computer
and how to use the technology tools on the computer to my students in small groups and one-on-
one. These small groups would be done several times to practice using the computer. This would
help my students to become familiar and comfortable with using the computer.

Abcya.com is being used during guided practice for the lesson. Students are playing an
alphabet bingo game to practice identifying letters. The game provides my students an interactive
learning experience Students listen and click the letters on their bingo card. When a student has
three in a row they win. Students can play the bingo game multiple times.
Seesaw is being used during independent practice for the lesson. Students are matching
uppercase and lowercase letters in seesaw. Students are completing the assessment on seesaw
instead of completing a cut and paste worksheet. Seesaw provides an interactive learning
experience for students. Students are able to use their finger to drag their lowercase letters to the
uppercase letters. Students are engaged and excited when completing the activity.
The last technology tool used in the lesson is Smart Notebook. The Smart Notebook is
used during the closing. The Smart Notebook is a review of what was taught during the lesson.
The smartboard activity will include activities for students to identify letters. The closing will be
done whole group, students will come to the smartboard to play the activity as a class. My
students love coming up to use the smartboard. They will be engaged in their learning.
The students in my classroom have various learning needs and styles that have to be
planning and designing lessons for my students I try to make sure my activities are accessible for
perceivable, operable, and robust. Students must be able to understand the activity. Students
must also be able to perceive the activity. There should be text for pictures and videos. The
activities must also be easy to use and easy to navigate (Verock-O'Loughlin, Maloy, Edwards, &
Woolf, 2014). My lesson plan is accessible for students because the text of the video is displayed

on the bottom of the video. My lesson plan is accessible for students because the activities I
Since my students are in kindergarten, digital citizenship is something they have never
heard about. For this lesson, I wanted my kindergarten students to have a positive experience
when using the computer. Students had a positive experience by completing interactive games
and activities. The lesson had the teacher model how to use the Chromebook and also how to
Conclusion
The new lesson plan improved the original lesson plan significantly. The new lesson plan
included songs, a read aloud, online games, and online activities. The new lesson plans learning
objectives were met. The lesson plan met the content standards and the technology standards. I
used the ASSURE model when planning this lesson. I like how the ASSURE model focuses on
the learner. The ASSURE model is used by many teacher in the classroom.
