Resolving conflict in local or national level are the utmost concern of agencies

and individuals that are given the responsibility and authority to do so. Without due

process the conflict could not be solve, without collaboration and cooperation among

groups there would be no progress and improvement on the identified crimes and

cases. Justice is everything. When one person is harmed and abuse, they demand for

justice and they demand for the equal protection of law.That is why we have the so-

called restorative justice,criminal justice system and Katarungan Pambarangay in order

to aid the citizens when it comes to achieving justice they deserve. The concepts

mentioned plays significant role in the community both in local or national level. With

that familiarizing those concepts is a must and necessary. All conflicts have its own

solution and with the systematic process to be done, a high chance of solving disputes

would be possible. It would become easier and more convenient to deal with crimes for

its better prevention and solution. I must say, every process matters when it comes to

justice system.

When we speak of restorative justice it has something to do with the kind of

approach to justice wherein the agencies or individuals concerned in solving the crime

made steps and actions to assist the ones who cause harm and to the ones who are

harmed on the crime. This approach helps a lot in giving opportunities to them. This

kind of approach both values and respect the victims and the offenders. Restorative

justice is one way to know the story and stand of both parties. With restorative justice

both could recover from the incident. In another aspect, involvement of the community in

the administration of Criminal Justice is also vital. Community has its vital role in
carrying the objectives of criminal justice. In fact, it was the fifth pillar of criminal justice

system. It had been seen that criminal justice cannot operate, if there is no active

participation coming from the citizens of the community. Why? It is because the citizen

of the community are the ones who will give first hand information’s on the certain

crime. Citizens are the ones who are expected to report crimes that will be investigated

by police officers. Meaning to say, community involvement aids in the successful

operation of criminal justice system. On the other hand, A system of justice known as

Katarungan Pambarangay is run at the village level with the goal of resolving conflicts

amicably without the use of courts of law through mediation, conciliation, or arbitration.

There are two identified stages of Katarungang Pambarangay process in the

Philippines. These are mediation before the Lupon and the chairman and the second

Conciliation before the pangkat.

The abovementioned concepts are indeed very important to understand and to

familiarize. The restorative justice, together with involvement of community in criminal

justice system and the Katarungang Pambaranggay process all serves an important

role in solving conflicts, solving crimes and providing solutions to the identified problems

during the process.
