Blog Post 1:

Two days ago, I attended a HomeField Alliance event at the Prudential Center. I got to watch a
New Jersey Devils game in person, for free. Yeah, it was a wonderful experience, being in the arena
and seeing such compelling action on the ice, but it wasn’t the hockey that has stuck with me since
I left; it’s the people. I had the opportunity to meet genuinely good people, all of whom are
LGBTQ+ professionals in the same industry that I hope to have a career in. Seeing those incredible
people, all in one room, bouncing their ideas and passion off one another, made me believe that I
belong. I am extremely grateful to have had the chance to attend the HomeField event. It will stick
with me forever.

As a gay athlete, all I have ever assumed was that I did not belong. As I grew up, the world evolved
around me, and slowly but surely, sports have become a safer place for LGBTQ+ folks like myself.
Thank you to HomeField Alliance, for creating a safe space, not just for gay athletes, but for any
LGBTQ+ that has a passion for sports. Your mission is so important.
