Lines...
“Line is the basis of Architectural drawing”

-Straight lines in pencil should be firm, clean, and of even strength/weight.

-A complete line should be exactly the same thickness and strength throughout its
length.

-Make sure that the pencil keeps the same angle with the straight edge from start to
finish or the line will be wavy.

-Remember also to slightly turn the pencil slowly round in the fingers as you move it
along the straight edge.

A. Thick continuous lines indicate visible outlines, profiles
and edges.
B. Thin continuous lines indicate construction lines, dimen
sion and leader lines, projection lines, outlines, hatching
etc.
C. Thin continuous irregular lines show limits of partial view
also termed short breaks.
D. Thin double lines with wave at intervals indicate long
break line or discontinuity and omission of interven
ing part.
E. Thin long dashes indicate hidden outlines and edges
above cut.
F. Thin short regular dashes indicate hidden outlines and
edges below cut.
G. Thin chain lines show centre lines.
H. Thin chains with two dots indicate boundary or property
lines.
I. Thin chains with three dots show communication lines.
J. Thin lines with letters show service lines: W-for water, E-
for electricity, S-for sewage.
