Govindgarh

 Geology: The city of Govindgarh lies in Rewa distt. of the central part of India.
Rewa distt. has a varying terrain consisting of alluvial plains, hills, rivers, scarps,
ravines, and waterfalls. The region consists mostly of Vindhyans formation. The
sandstones, limestones, shales mostly underlying the distt.

Soil types found in the distt. consists of alluvium deposits of varying colours
ranging from red to brown type mixed sandy loam & clayey soils. Soils formed
are mostly due to weathering of sandstone and shales consisting of lime Kankars
sometimes.

 Geography: The city of Rewa lies in the central part of India of Madhya Pradesh
state. The city co-ordinates lie in between 24.53°N and 81.3° E and has an area of
approximately 6240 Km2. It is surrounded by Rewa plateau in the north, Kaimur
hills by the south, Sidhi by east & Satna by west. Geographically, the city can be
divided into four divisions namely Vindhyan Hills, Kaimur Hills, Rewa Plateau
and Northern low lying area.

The famous Vindhyans range passes through the centre part of the of the city.
The two tributaries of The Ganges namely Tamsa and Son flows through the city.
Other rivers flowing through the city are Beehar, Mahana, Nihai etc. The city has
various water-falls such as Chanchai Falls emerging from Tamsa, Keoti Falls,
Bahuti Falls and Purwa Falls.

 Rainfall & Climate: Rewa has a humid subtropical climate. Summers occurs


from March to mid-June. The avg. temperature recorded is 30°C. The max.
occurring in May i.e. 45°C. Winters are cold & misty starting from October and
lasts upto early March. The avg. temperature lies around 15°C with little amount
of rainfall. It receives rainfall from the South-west and North-east monsoons and
the average annual rainfall recorded is 1,128 mm.

 Seismicity: Rewa lies in the Seismic Zone II, as per the current seismic zonation
map of India (IS: 1893-2016) and have a zone factor of 0.10 for design basis
earthquake.

Sidhi
Geology: The Sidhi district lies along the north-east part of the Madhya Pradesh state
of India. The region mostly consists of hilly-terrain. Geographically, it can be divided
into three divisions namely Kaimur hilly range, Central hilly range & Southern hilly
range. The major rivers flowing through the district are the Son, Banas, Gopal & the
Rihand rivers.

Soil types found in the region mostly consists of alluvium deposits of red to
yellow sandy, & sandy loamy soils found mostly along the river banks. The thickness
varies from few to 25 meters. Laterite soils are observed in the plateau areas.

Geography: Sidhi is located in the north-east part of Madhya Pradesh state. It lies
within the coordinates of 24.42°N & 81.88°E, having an area of approximately 4850
km2.
The district is bounded by Rewa district on the west, Singrauli district in the north-east.

Rainfall and Climate: Sidhi typically has a hotter and dry climate except for the
monsoon season. Summer occurs from March to mid of June. Maximum temperature
achieved is 42°C in the month of May. Winters starts from December and lies up to
February. Minimum temperature recorded is 8.10°C.
Sidhi receives its maximum rainfall from south-west monsoon, observed
during the month from mid of June to September. The normal annual rainfall recorded is
1132.7 mm.
Seismicity: From the Seismic zonation map of India Sidhi lies in Zone-III. It has a
zone factor of 0.16 for design basis earthquake.
