A Semi-Detailed Lesson Plan in Arts


for Grade 2

I. Objectives
A. Content Standard: Demonstrate understanding of primary and secondary colors
B. Performance Standard: Creates a design that shows unity and variety of primary
and secondary colors
C. Learning Competency: Distinguish primary from secondary colors
At the end of the lesson, pupils are expected to:
• Knowledge: Identify the primary and secondary colors
• Skills: Differentiate and uses primary and secondary colors in drawing
• Attitude: Gives importance to the unity and variety of primary and
secondary colors in drawing

• Canva, art prints, activity sheets

IV. Procedures
A. Review
Review and sharing of knowledge from the past lesson about contrast of colors.

B. Motivation
The teacher will show art prints with and without color
The teacher will then ask the students to choose what they prefer between the two
The student will explain why they choose it

C. Activity
Relative to the motivational activity and the students answer, the teacher will then discuss to the
class the importance of colors, and its unity and variety
The students with the guide of the teacher will distinguish the difference of the primary colors
(red, yellow, blue) and secondary colors (orange, green, violet)
The teacher will hand out cards with different colors to the students
Students should group the cards by their colors as a primary colors and secondary color

D. Abstraction
The teacher will ask the students a question: Why is it important to know the primary and
secondary colors?

E. Applications
The students will draw their favorite thing inside the classroom and color it with primary and
secondary colors.

VI. Assignment
Direction: With the help of a family member, take a photo of different objects inside your
house that shows primary colors and secondary colors. Put it on a bond paper
and add a description about it, with one to two sentences.
