 AUXILIARY VERBS
IN ENGLISH

By including an auxiliary verb in a sentence you can change its meaning to refer to
perfect or continuous tenses, questions or negative sentences.
The most common auxiliary verbs in English are "to be", "to do" and "to have", but there
are many others such as shall, can, could, may or should, which are called modals.

WHEN ARE AUXILIARY VERBS USED?

or the past perfect.
In the passive voice you will
always find the conjugated
verb to be accompanied by a
main verb in the past
participle.
In the conditional you need to
use auxiliary verbs. You can
find the verb to be and the
verbs would or could.
