These are used to carry the power in a power distribution system.

PRIMARY DISTRIBUTION LINES
Primary distribution lines carry this medium voltage power to
distribution transformers located near the customer's premises.
Distribution transformers again lower the voltage to the utilization
voltage used by lighting, industrial equipment and household
appliances.

It is that part of AC Distribution System which includes the range of
voltages at which the ultimate consumer utilises the electrical energy
delivered to him. The secondary distribution employs 400/230 V, 3-
phase, 4-wire system.
