Project Description:

1. In groups of 3 or 4 you are tasked with creating a 3 minute-

5 minute short film.

2. This film can be any genre you would like, but must have the
school as your setting.

3. Before you begin filming your group must also create a plot
pitch which contains a plot summary (10%) character
descriptions (10%) to help shape your storyline.

4. After you are happy with your plot and characters, you will
map your first 15 shots before you start filming. Keep the
same 4-5 sec shot length as you create your entire
storyboard. 4 sec shot length average = 45 shots total for 3
minutes and 75 shots total for 5 minutes (20%).

5. Class time will be given for filming your short film.

6. After filming is completed, group members will be assigned

roles: Director, Editor, Sound Designer & Marketing Manager.
Details about roles will be explained at a later date.

7. Completed short films (40%) will be presented to the class.

Films will be graded on:
a. A clear, defined plot
b. In-depth character(s)
c. Proper use of film elements (lighting, sound, colour,
shots & angles)
d. Clean transitions
e. Creativity (Think outside the box!)
f. Clear audio for all dialogue
g. Use of non-diegetic sound

8. At the end of the project you will complete an anonymous

peer review of your group members.(10%)
