Quiz 1
Question
1. Explain the pulmonary circulation of the heart
2. Differentiate between ASD and VSD
3. Describe pericarditis,myocarditis and endocarditis
Answer
1. First the part of the circulatory system that transports deoxygenated blood from the
right side of the heart to the lungs and returns oxygenated blood to the left side of the
heart, second one, blood that is lacking oxygen is said to be deoxygenated.this blood has
just exchanged oxygen for carbon dioxide across cell membranes, and now contains
mostly carbon dioxide.Deoxygenated blood enters the right atrium through the superior
vena cava and the inferior vena cava.
After that from the right atrium, the deoxygenated blood drains into the right
ventricle through the tricuspid valve. The tricuspid valve has three flaps in its structure.
When the ventricles contrat, the tricuspid valve closes off the opening between the
ventricle and the atrium,so that blood does not flow back up into the atrium. As the right
ventricle contarcts,it forces the deoxygenated blood through the pulmonary semilunar
valve and into the pulmonary artery. Semilunar means half moon and refers to the shape
of the valve. Note that this is the only artery in the body that contains deoxygenated
blood. The semilunar valve keeps blood from flowing back into the right ventricle once it
is in the pulmonary artery.
Last one,the pulmonary artery carries the blood that is very low in oxygen to the
lungs. Where it become oxygenated

2. Atrial septal defect is Acyanotic lesion, L=> R shunting, atrial level, patients are often well
with remarkably few symptoms, may have gone to the GP regarding something
else,diagnosis confirmed via echo
Ventical septal defect is common congenital heart problem, often associated with other
defect,communication between L&R,left => right shunting,unbalanced blood flow,last
one loss of homeostasis

3. Pericarditis is refers to inflammation of the pericardial sac

Acute pericarditis is the most common disorder involving the pericardium
Myocarditis is an inflammatory disease of the myocardium caused by different infectious
and non infectious triggers
Endocarditis is characterized by inflammatory of the endocardium it usually involves the
valves of the heart
