Dale’s Cone Experience

In Dale’s Cone Experience, I had learned that the Cone shows the progression of

experiences from the most concrete (at the bottom of the cone) to the most abstract (at the

top of the cone) which is right for me, this is because I believed that  learners retain more

information by what they “do” as opposed to what is “heard”, “read” or “observed”. In

this case, I am very impressed by his theory because the teacher’s will have their ideas

already on how to teach their lessons and use this kind of theory.

In my experience, I had learned that his theory is very useful for me as a future educator

because it gave me a brief background on how to handle classroom management. Upon

engaging also in our activity, I had learned that Dale’s Cone of experience is an interactive

way of teaching my future students. That is why I am very thankful that I was enrolled in

this subject, Education Technology II because I knew that I will not just learn all about

Dale’s Cone of experience, I knew that I will gather more information that I can be

actualized in my future profession.

In conclusion, It is still important to know on how to handle the different kinds of

approaches mentioned in Dale’s cone of experience BUT I believed that as a future

educator we should be considerate in using this theory. We should apply those theories

depending on the needs of learners.

Statistic and Probability

In this unit, I learned a lot about data organizing, I learned its importance and different methods

to organize data. Data exists everywhere in our life, we use it to count numbers and do many

other things, it’s really helpful to us, and no matter what we do with data, we need organize it

first, so statistics is necessary and important. In fact, from the learning of this unit, I found that a

lot of questions were based on real life, such as economic problems, physical exercise progresses

and many other things that we see and do in real life. There are several useful methods to

organize data, I learned all of them and I think they are very different from each other and they

have different uses. They can be graphs or tables. There are bar graphs, line graphs, pie graphs

and histogram graphs to show the data in shapes, bar graphs and histogram graphs are more used

for looking at the differences between each group of data, line graphs can show the patterns or

trends clearly, and pie graphs are more used for showing percentages. I also learned some tables

for organizing data, such as frequency tables, stem-leaf plots and box and whiskers. They look

very different and they are used differently as well. Frequency tables might be the most useful

tables in these three, it can both organize and rank the numbers and easily show the frequency.

Stem-leaf plots are used for ranking data in an order, while box and whiskers are used on grids

to show the range and quadrilles, and it’s usually used with frequency tables. After learning

statistics, I feel like I can now do some more interesting and helpful things with raw data now,

and I think it’s really powerful. Statistic & Probability – Honestly , I’m not good in this

subject  when I was in Elementary. But For me it is important to better understand on it. From

solving it is very important so that we able to teach to the other students.
