FINAL PERFORMANCE INNOVATIVE TASK IN MMW

Reflection Paper pertaining to Flexible

Learning
By Willa Marry T. Behec Bs Architecture 1A

This year 2020 has been a very toughest journey that I had in my entire life. However, I
am lucky enough to enter in this prestige institution also having all the things I need like a
laptop, my own phone and a house to stay and I am grateful I consider myself to be privileged.
Pandemic didn’t hindered me to learn , Math in the Modern World taught me many things that I
can apply in the near future like the wonder of math in Nature, the importance of Fibonacci
sequence, sets and subsets, relations and functions, logic, power and significance of statistics,
and the application of linear programming. I was astonished to know that I have been interacting
patterns of math in my life, we really is living in a universe full of patterns. Moreover, these
numerical patterns helped the world renowned astronomers, scientist and etc. to calculate
whatever the field of interest they want to discover which today we have been using and
mending its lapses for the future generations. The patterns of Fibonacci sequence can help in
predicting the number of offspring of various animals, also you can use this sequence to divide
task in terms of time. I learned that sets is like having colour beads where the whole population
of beads is a set and the beads with the same colours are subsets. As what Prof. Bacabac said
when we had our online class that “All functions are relations, but not all relations are
functions.” that made the students cheer, it may not be audible but I can tell especially when it’s
face to face class everybody would cheer because most of them relates to the quote. In logic I
learned how to prove a statement where Universal quantifier and existential quantifier are a
construction of words that point out the number of elements that a statement relates to, under
Logical Operators are negations, Conjunctions, Disjunctions that can be determined by how they
connect two statements the derive whether it is true or false in time truth table and then
Conditional Statements leads to false when the (p) is true and the (q) is false and Biconditional
Statements leads to true when both (p) and (q) are true and both are false. When we move to
statistics at first it did not really surprised me because we had it in our grade 11 and about how
we utilized it, under statistics there I got refreshed again with the Mean, Median and Mode on
how to solve for them. And recently, learning about Linear Programming where I get to face
inequalities again and solving for x and y. There are quiet numerous steps on getting the
intersection of a particular corner point but before getting there I have to consider the steps like
digest and understand the problem, define the variable, determine what is ask, solve the
constraints, graph the inequalities where x and y are present, find the corner points then test it on
whatever I am looking for, then answer it what is asked in the problem in a sentence form.
Personally, I find Linear Programming to be the most challenging for the reason that during
senior high I was a HUMSS student where we don’t really deal with man only in research and
I’m not use to the drill and its complexity but I am trying to practice it and enhance my critical
thinking skills, I admit the fact that there’s nothing like having a teacher to teach you face to face
because you get really discipline, I tend to get irritated and soon give up when I find the problem
to be complicated. Teachers gives out the best in you, they are the person that we can look up to,
learn from their mistakes, being able to hear their stories and to yell at you and your classmates
and laugh together. I just miss this basic day to day experience that, that drive is not totally
present in me right now and this online learning is effective to in a way that I get to introduce all
the topics needed, provided with videos that are very helpful, comprehensive ppt’s and having
the patience of using online class as a platform of learning also learning new things. I definitely
appreciate all of it, that all of my teacher’s efforts are not to be put in vain. It’s just that being in
a dysfunctional family and learning all of it in my house is not really good to me, I can’t focus, I
get disturb whenever I am studying, I have chores at home, hearing them fight and fight all over
again and just the environment of my household is not really healthy, and it is not a good place
for learning. Nevertheless, these challenges did not really stopped me from it may be not all of it
comprehensively but at least I learned all the basics and the things to consider and this is college
we are on our own it’s the survival of the fittest, and I’m not going to let all of it consume me.
Thus, learning all the new ideas I get in Math in the Modern World is very important and are
applicable in the real world, patterns and sequence are important in science and in the different
fields, statistics plays a major role in research containing Qualitative and Quantitative research
that is a tool for deriving answers and testing also statistics can be used in banking, trading,
mobile applications, in senior high research, manufacturing and more. While linear
programming is present in business, company management, such as planning, production,
transportation, technology and other issues, either to maximize the income or minimize the costs
of a production, to find the maximum profit for a certain production. food and agriculture,
engineering, transportation, manufacturing and energy. Point is, there are countless uses that
Math bestowed us until today, math is amazing as well as our ever hardworking teachers.
