A report on 10 netiquette guidelines every online students’ needs to know

Ashley Brooks Article 10 netiquette guidelines every online students’ needs to know is a
timely piece that fills the gap between the dynamic internet learning platform and proper
behaviour that must be observed by the students. There were ten prescribed guidelines in the
article. First is no yelling, in the context of typical learning environment this may mean using
abrasive verbal sound, but in the context of online classroom this is simply avoiding upper
case letters in expressing your thoughts since it may send a signal that you mean to express
harshly or in an angry tone. Second is avoiding the use of sarcasm, employing ambivalence
during online class may not be the best idea since it can be interpreted as hostile mockery
rather than a jest. Third is do not abuse the chat box, the article prescribes the solemn use of
the chat box as a tool for relevant questions and answers rather than spamming it with
random inquiries. Fourth is attempting to find the answer, the self-explanatory rule about
being a student should manifest in our eagerness to learn especially when all the materials
and resources can be found in the internet. Fifth are employing the proper punctuation,
spelling, and grammar: along with the sixth rule of setting a respectful tune will create a
healthy learning environment for both the instructor and the students where they can
communicate with clarity. The seventh rule of submitting the files the right way, prescribes
the manner on which the student should observe in complying with requirements. The eighth,
ninth, and tenth rule constitutes a proper action that must be followed by the students during
online classes. Reading the materials comprehensively will give the students a proper insight
before actually constructing a response or comment relating to any subject matter. The last
and perhaps the most important thing that is not only applicable to online class, but in life in
general is the observance of kindness and professionalism.

The positive attitude toward this article was genuine because I recognize this article to
improve the value of manners upon the people in the online community. Manners maybe
artificial in nature but whenever there is decay in the manner it also degenerates morality. As
a student of MSU College of law who in the present self-administering classes online. The
observance of the following principles will enable me to exercise a level of respect towards
my professors and classmates, to perform and execute task accordingly, and to learn
effectively and as proper as possible. Thus, observing correct manners in the performance of
my task as a student will manifest my good character.

In conclusion, I highly recommend students who are also self-administering online to read
and observe the principles written in the article 10 netiquette guidelines every online
student’s needs to know.
