SHINGLED CELL TECHNOLOGY

SunPower Performance Series are based on shingled cell technology

Mono PERC high efficiency cells are laser-cut and shingled using an
electricity conductive adhesive to form a hypercell that provides high
yield, high durability and enhanced performance.

2. Single points of failure on copper ribbons between cells resulting in hotspots.

SUNPOWER ENCAPSULANT – EVA Vs POE

EVA is being widely used as encapsulant on PV modules:

▪ Easy to handle
▪ Cost effective
▪ Adhesive properties

But EVA also:

Degrades with time specially under hot and humid
conditions
▪ Generates Acetic Acid which creates moisture which
will result in corrosion
▪ May impact on PID
▪ Yellows, diminishing light incidence on cell and yield
▪ Reduces UV protection

SunPower doesn’t use EVA as encapsulant: We use POE (Polyolefin Encapsulant)
