A. In a narrative form with a minimum of 50 words each, analyze the artwork by the following:
1. Visual elements

The visual elements that can be found in my artwork are lines, colors, shapes, texture and
pattern. As you can see I used different lines such as curved, horizontal, and vertical lines that
suggest emotion, the Curved lines suggest comfort and ease, Horizontal lines suggest
distance and calm and Vertical lines suggest height and strength. I also used colors to create
the mood or atmosphere of the artwork, I used different shades of colors such as light and dark
colors. The shapes I used in this artwork are a circle which can represent continuous
movement and stars that represent wishes as it is a heavenly sign of a prophecy fulfilled long
ago and the shining hope for humanity. The artwork texture is rough, to give a realistic feel to
the lanterns. And lastly, the used pattern communicates a sense of balance, harmony,
contrast, rhythm or movement.

2. Representation
The parol is a classic star-shaped lantern that is available in a variety of sizes, forms, and
colors. It is made of bamboo wood and paper. It represents the Bethlehem star that led the
three wise men to the Christ child's manger. This artwork also represents the long christmas
celebration of Filipinos which start every september or during ber months.

3. Emotional suggestions
The lines that can be seen in my artwork suggest emotion such as curved lines suggest
comfort and ease, horizontal lines suggest distance and calm and vertical lines suggest height
and strength. The colors suggest the mood of the artwork, shapes suggest continuous
movement. The overall artwork suggests love, peace and thanksgiving or a celebration, only
the Philippines celebrates a long Christmas, and christmas reminds us to love one another, to
be kind and to be generous. One of the most iconic symbols of the Filipino Christmas spirit, is
the Christmas lantern or locally known as “parol”. Making lanterns and hanging them outside
their windows during the Christmas season is a way for Filipinos to demonstrate their common
faith, optimism, and goodwill as well as the triumph of light over darkness.

4. Intellectual meaning
“The Christmas parol is the quintessential Filipino symbol of hope, blessings, luck, and
peace.” It is an illustration of a bringing together of faith and hope. It also symbolizes the
collective kindness of individuals during the Christmas season and the victory of light
over darkness. Likewise, by lighting parols and suspending Christmas ornaments,
Filipinos can be encouraged and given hope throughout this pandemic.

B. Make a title for your artwork and explain why you chose that title.
“Ang mga bituin ng babaeng ipinanganak noong kapaskuhan”

Christmas is very important and a very close to my heart celebration. Everyday I get so excited
for Christmas, because Christmas day is also my birthday. Ever since, I knew that I have a
very strong and special connection with Jesus. I was just a child then, but I deeply understood
that God has a purpose for me, until now I keep on searching for that purpose. I chose that title
because the girl in the artwork is me, and I am willing to give my lanterns to those who are at
their lowest as the Christmas season is approaching. These lanterns symbolize hope, so I am
giving them hope that everything will be in a good place.
