b) plants have life cycles.

In this activity, my students are going to use Google Slides to create a presentation showcasing the life
cycles of plants and animals.

Activity 1. To introduce the science block for the day, the


teacher will briefly review and discuss the
characteristics of the life cycles of plants and
animals with the students.
2. To introduce the activity, the teacher will show the
class the example presentation to show the
students how they can use Google Slides to
portray the life cycle of a plant or animal from
beginning to end.
3. The teacher will show the students how to use
Google Slides and how to make a presentation
step by step. This includes making a title slide with
the students’ names and chosen plant or animal,
content slides with one stage of the life cycle
corresponding to one slide in the presentation,
and how to include pictures in the presentation.
4. The teacher will explain to the students what
they’re looking for and what needs to be included
in the presentation, possibly giving the students a
rubric or writing it on the board. This includes a
picture of what the animal or plant looks like
during the different stages, an explanation of the
changes that are happening to the animal or plant
during the different stages, what the animal or
plant may need to grow and develop in the
different stages, and what the purpose of the
different stages are and/or why they are
important.
5. The students will get into groups of 2 or 3 and
choose a plant or animal from a list to make their
presentation about.
6. The students will use their notes and potentially
other sources to find information about their
chosen plant or animal to put into the
presentation.
7. The students will put their information and
pictures into their presentations, with the teacher
providing support as needed, to illustrate the life
cycle of their plant or animal.
8. After the students finish their presentations, they
will present them to the class. Finishing their

presentations will most likely take a couple of


days.
