Methodologies

Introduction
This report pertains to the various methodologies adopted in minimization of e-wastes in
the WIPRO company. Data were gathered and collected across various e-waste collecting
stations started in 2005. This made to look on various aspects of research process and
analyze it to give it for better methodology to be adopted by them in coming future. The
methodologies will include the research process that needs to be relooked through study
and technology adopted in other countries and how the government policies and
regulations are enabling the research process and findings towards arriving at more better
possible solutions for minimization of e-waste.
Research Design
This study will define the research method with respect to the target area where we have to
minimize and find possible solutions within the design strategy. We referred the various
processes in Brazil adopted for the minimization of e-waste using the reverse logistics model
and the way policy implementation and government regulations where adopted across a de-
centralized structure for various stakeholders taken into consideration. This will require the
integration of all types of stakeholders and thus make them aware of it. This can be applied
to the same in India so that process modification will lead to decrease in the minimization of
e-waste. The data collection was analyzed at various junction points in the RLM (Reverse
Logistics Model) and then decisions were taken accordingly based on the set criteria/target
achieved or not for the reduction values in the e-waste generation.
The design component could also be followed with respect to how Dell and Lenovo are
adopting through the EPR (Extended Producer Responsibility) systems as per the
government policies towards minimization of e-waste generation.
Area Of Study
The study was carried out for Bangalore Wipro Division. The reason for the choice of this
place was the majority of the e-waste generation where in these locations and the use of
laptops generated e-waste to the maximum content. Hence, there was possibility to have
more data, information for better and informed decision making and integrate it with the
government 2023 policy of EPR. This will also lead to collaborate with various NGO’s who
are working on e-waste generation and understand their processes and technology they are
adopting. This will involve more stakeholders and creating awareness programs for the
same.
Research Approach/Strategy
There are 3 types of research methodology: Quantitative, Qualitative and Mixed methods
approach. Here, the data collection and information should be collected across all regions
wherever WIPRO has expanded it’s work across regions of Bangalore and accordingly make
reduction in the e-waste generation based on different technological solutions
implementation. Qualitative methods would be used to store information about the
issues/problems faced and it would be collected in form of stories and paragraphs to

analyze it in computer software. It will develop in remodeling and applying the right strategy
towards e-waste minimization and scale up this process.
