Visit to Alhaj Mostofa Hakim Maternity Hospital

Introduction

The department of Community Medicine, IAHS organized a field visit to


Alhaj Mostofa Hakim Maternity Hospital. According to the schedule we
gathered at Community medicine department at around 8.00 am and briefed
by Prof Dr. Sayed Mahmud Sir about our activities during visit. We started
our journey at 10.20 am by bus provided by IAHS accompanied by Dr. Sara
Farahnaj and Dr. Dilruba Nahar and reached the visiting site at 10.30 am.

At the hospital we were warmly welcomed by Dr. Iffat Jahan, RMO. She
briefed us about organogram, services, facilities, limitations of hospital. After
visiting the hospital, we returned to IAHS at around 2:30 pm. Then we
submitted our collected data to Dr. Dilruba Nahar.

Objectives of the organization
 To provide care to mother and child to reduce maternal and newborn
mortality and morbidity
 Facilitate communities so that they can get good maternity and child care
 To provide services for family planning
 To protect children of the community against vaccine preventable diseases
by EPI facility
 To provide essential drugs provided by government at low cost
 Health education for mothers

Environment
 Clean environment
 Well ventilation
 Well water supply
 Poor sanitation
 People at the hospital are maintaining social distancing, wearing
mask, hand wash etc.

Future plan
 To develop skill of health care provider by installment of modern
devices by instruments to provide better care for the mother by
newborn.

Financial support
 Chattogram city corporation

Manpower
 70 persons

Problems
 No blood bank. So post partum haemorrhage management in not
possible
 No ICU bed

Contribution
 They provide proper institutional care and immunization program,
thus contribute to improvement of MCH. The ultimate goal of
which is the development of PHC in Bangladesh.
Facilities
 To provide good health care services with operation facilities to the
pregnant women with minimum cost
 ANC, PNC, INC, NVD, Caesarean section delivery
 COVID-19 vaccination
 Newborn care, EPI, Family planning
 USG, ECG, Breastfeeding corner
 Adolescent health care and advice on reproductive health
 Dental care
 HIV/AIDS and other STI’s services
 Labour room, OT room
 General OPD
