Ballroom
● The ballroom is a room that has enough space for many people to
dance.
● Traditionally , A ballroom has either a hardwood or marble floor.
● The word comes from a Ball or Party with the Latin root Ballare " to
dance " .

Different types of Ballroom

Waltz
➔ Waltz is a smooth dance that travels around the line of dance.
Characterized by its " Rise and fall " action , the waltz includes a
step , slide and step in 3/4 time.
➔ A dance born in the suburbs of Vienna and in the alpine region of
Austria. As early as the seventeenth century, waltz were played in the
ballrooms of the Hapsburg court.

Tango
➔ It is a ballroom dance of Latin American origin in 2/4 time with a basic
pattern of step-step - step - close and characterized by long pauses
and stylized body Position.
➔ It originated in Buenus Aires, Argentina in the early twentieth century.
The tango dance is usually performed by a man and a woman,
expressing an element of romance in their synchronized movements.

Cha-Cha
● Cha-cha dance originated from Cuba and was originally known as the
cha-cha-cha. The dance gained popularity around the 1950's and
created from other dances the mamon and the danzon.
● Cha-cha-cha or cha-cha is a popular social dance characterized by
the " chacha-cha " rhythm during the chasse ( side-close a-side step).
Rumba
● It is a ballroom dance of afro-Cuban folk dance origin that became
Internationally popular in the early 20th century. Best known for the
dancers subtle side to side hip movements with the torso effect.
● The rumba is danced with a basic pattern of the quick side steps and
a slow forward step.
● It is a quick-quick -slow with distinctive side to side hip movements.

Swing
● Swing dance was discovered by a black community during the 1920's
through dancing to contemporary jazz music. Music was known and
described as "swing jazz" to befit the effect of the music to its
audiences.
● It is A lively dance.
