DANCE POSITIONS
Objectives
dance.
● Rhythms in music are made up of short phrases that combine to make longer
phases, much like a spoken language. Many of these phases are made up of
common two-beats patterns. Once you become familiar with these short patterns,
it will be much easier to identify and follow the rhythms of longer phases.
● Rhythm is one of the main components of music, along with melody and
harmony. Learning how to count rhythms is important if you want to improve your
understanding of rhythm. Maybe you want to be able to count rhythms as you
read sheet music, or you want to be able to count rhythms that you hear in order
to learn from musicians you admire. First, you have to understand the
components of rhythm.
