UNIT: BSBSUS401 Implement and monitor environmentally sustainable work practices
Estimated Time 20 Minutes
Objective To provide you with an opportunity to analyse procedures for assessing
compliance with environmental/sustainability regulations.
Activity 1B
With which environmental/sustainable regulations does your organisation have to comply in
terms of those dictated by:
 International: In recent decades, there have been a number of international conventions,
agreements and treaties regarding the preservation of the global environment and
Australia has been at the fore front, leading the way on many issues, particularly those
involving biodiversity as Australia enjoys unusually high levels of biodiversity.

 Commonwealth: state and territory laws enforcing NEPMS do not extend to activities
carried out by the commonwealth or commonwealth authorities in commonwealth places.
This act was introduced to rectify this situation.

 State/territory: the EPBC is the government’s national legislation that provides the
framework for the assessment and approval of environment and cultural concerns. If your
business activity is likely to impact on local parks, heritage sites, air or water, permits and
licences should be applied for through your state or local government.

 Industry:- whilst each industry and organization will have specific areas in which they need
to become more environmentally efficient, there are general ways of improving an
organisation’s impact on the environment.

 Organisation? In addition to the legal requirements concerning the environment your

organization may have its own policies and procedures in place to which they expect you
to adhere. Organization regulations may include measures and targets related to:
1. Recycling
2. Waste reduction measures
3. Use of sustainable resources

Activity 1E
Estimated Time 20 Minutes
Objective To provide you with an opportunity to measure and document current
resource usage of members of the work group.
Is the usage of the resource governed by internal organisational guidelines or
specifications?

Ans:- the best place to start is internally within your organization. Unless you know the current
position of the organization in terms of resource usage, you will not be in a position to identify areas
for improvement.
Environment Management plan
Most organization will have an environmental management plan. If your organization has an EMP,
find out:
 The time scale of the plan:
 When was it implemented?
 How long the plan is set for?
 Is this fixed duration?
 The goals of the plan – are they specific or generic?
 The way in which it is implemented – how are staff members made aware of it?

Estimated Time 30 Minutes

Objective To provide you with an opportunity to analyse and document current
purchasing strategies.
Activity 1F

Select one product sold by your organisation and research its supply chain. Find
out whetherimprovements could be made to the environmental sustainability
of the supply chain. Document your findings in your work book.

Ans:- in order to make informed decisions about purchasing strategies it is important to understand
the supply chain of the product. Some products have very long supply chains that are often global
and a lot of manufacturing processes, such as for electrical and IT equipment, are done in
developing countries. It is important to find out weather or not the same environmental protection
and/or human rights that we enjoy in Australia are being adhered to throughout the supply A
sustainability covenant or compact is an agreement between a institution, often government, and
an organization that encourages the organization to improve its environmentally sustainability
efforts through funding, setting benchmarks for improvements.
Estimated Time 30 Minutes
Objective To provide you with an opportunity to analyse current work processes to
access information and data to assist in identifying areas for improvement.
Activity 1G
Identify the different work processes involved within your organisation in terms of:

 Design of product and/or service – The production method use environmentally

sustainable work practices, people may be more likely to pay more for it and vice versa.

 Manufacture of product – A manufacturing process in which goods are mass- produced

up to a point and then custom-tailored to the needs or desires of individual customers.

 Delivery of product and/or service – 1. Label all products clealy and keep an up to
date inventory.
2. ensure goods maintenance of all storage tanks and vessels
3. ensure any damages or spillages are dealt.

 Storage – 1. keep storage areas well ventilated

2. store all relevant products in designated areas
3. store hazardous materials appropriately
 Disposal - The work process undertake would contribute to the potential hazards of exposure to garbage
collection workers and in landfills if HW existed in the operation during the handling.

 Supply chain management – In order to make informed decisions about purchasing strategies it is
important to understand the supply chain of the product. Some products have very long supply chains
that are often global and a lot of manufacturing process, such as for electrical and IT equipment, are
done in developing countries.

Identify a single work process in which you are involved and break it down in to small steps.

Ans:-1. I am included in storage and disposal processes.

2. I receive and record the items delivered.
3. I manually handle where to store it an label it.
4. I confirm all the purchases made and the delivery items received and record it.
5. I am part of clean up duty. We handle disposal of food items and the separation of recycle item.

Identify how this process impacts on the environment.

Ans:- Gather information from your sources to document the environmental impact and efficiency of the process such
as:
 Energy and utilities used
 Time taken to complete
 Raw materials used/wasted
 Waste products produced
 Any storage needed
 Any disposal needed
 Delivery
 Suppliers
 Relevant administration.
Identify areas that require improvements and suggest ways in which they could be
implemented.
Ans:- ask your human sources for their suggestions on how they think the process could be improved. This may
not necessarily be directly related to the environment but may have an indirect impact, such as shortening the
completion time of a process that uses electricity.
 Use all information you have gathered to identify areas for improvement in environmental sustainability.
You may need comparative data to do this such as energy used this year against last year, or
comparisons between the efficiency of two different machines performing the same operation.
 Ensure that the process adheres to any relevant regulations and legal compliance.

Estimated Time 45 Minutes

Objective To provide you with an opportunity to access external sources of information
and data as required.
Activity 2B
Q&A
Identify an area within a process that you undertake as part of your role in your organisation
that you believe requires improvement to environmental sustainability.
Ans:- there are a number of sources that can provide you with information and ideas about how to
improve the resources usage and environmental efficiency of your organization.
Sources of information and assistance may include:
 Organization specifications
 Regulatory sources
 Relevant stakeholders
 Resource use.

Using the internet, access external sources that provide information and data as required to
help identify ways in which improvements could be made. F
ind and document at least one source from the following types of source:

 National government – The Australian Government, also known as the Commonwealth

Government, is the national government of Australia, a Federal parliamentary
constitutional monarchy.

 State or territory government – The EPBC is the government’s national legislation

that provides the framework for the assessment and approval of environmental and
cultural concerns. Individual states and territories have additional relevant legislation for
specific business activities.

 Telephone or email enquiry to a local government office – In addition to the websites,

there are local offices that you can contact for information and advice via telephone, email
and by visiting the office itself. It gives information on ways to contact the EPA and
locations and contact details of all of its local offices.
 Private consultant. – A private consultant is a professional with a large knowledge base in
a particular field of work. This is a privately based career, which means that the
consultant doesn’t work for any particular company and operates at a more
decrease level.

Estimated Time 40 Minutes

Objective To provide you with an opportunity to evaluate alternative solutions to
workplace environmental issues.
Activity 2C
Q&A
Using the alternative solutions in the Learner Guide, evaluate how suitable each one is for your
organisation. Document your reasons in your answer.
Ans:- Whilst each industry and organization will have specific areas in which they need to become
more environmentally efficient, there are general ways of improving an organisaton’s impact on
the environment.
1. Carbon management- individuals within an organisation as well as a whole can contribute to
reducing its carbon footprint. Your carbon footprint is the total amount of greenhouse gas
emissions caused either directly or indirectly by the activity of your organization.
2. Avoiding emissions from your site and from energy use- have lights on sensors so that they
go out when rooms are not occupied, turn equipment off at night, use video conferencing
instead of travelling to meetings in vehicles.
3. Change energy sources- invest in renewable energy sources such as solar panel.

Estimated Time 20 Minutes

Objective To provide you with an opportunity to set efficiency targets.
Activity 2D
Using the information you have gathered and the evaluation you have completed over the
whole of this chapter, set at least two efficiency targets for your organisation. You will need to
ensure that targets are SMART.
Ans:- throughout the whole of its element you have been gathering and evaluating information
about areas in your organization that require improvements to be made to their current
environmental sustainability. You may need to decide which areas you instead to improve and
what measures you will implement.
Efficiency targets
using your evaluation process, determine which areas of efficiency you are going to target.
 Improving purchasing
 Improving storage
When setting your targets you need to have clealy defined goals. SMART goals help you to define
individual aspects of your target:
 S- Specific,
 M- measurable, meaningful
 A- attainable, achievable, agreed upon
 R- realistic, relevant, reasonable
 T- time-based, time-bound, track able.

Estimated Time 40 Minutes

Objective To provide you with an opportunity to apply continuous improvement
strategies to own work area of responsibility, including ideas and possible
solutions to communicate to the work group and management.
Activity 3B
Identify an area in a process you undertake in your role that you believe could be
improved andmake a suggestion for a solution.

Ans:- Continuous improvement will only be realised if all members of the organization have the
same attitude and approach. Attention to detail and the desire to make processes as efficient as
possible is essential in all employees. It also requires management to allow and encourage
employees to think for themselves and take calculated risks in implementing changes to processes
and procedures.

Estimated Time 1 Hour

Objective To provide you with an opportunity to implement and integrate
environmental and resource efficiency improvement plans for own work
group with other operational activities and to supervise and support team
members to identify possible areas for improved practices and resource
efficiency in work area.
Activity 3C
Identify a product that your organisation manufactures, sells, purchases or
uses and list thedifferent people involved in the product stewardship and their
responsibilities.
Ans:- product stewardship is where everyone involved in the life cycle of a product has a
responsibility to reduce the impact the product has on the environment and health and safety. It
coincides with supply chain programs

Using the internet, research and document the opportunities in your

state/territory forsustainability covenants/compacts. Document your
findings.

Estimated Time 30 Minutes

Objective To provide you with an opportunity to supervise and support team members
to identify possible areas for improved practices and resource efficiency in
work area.
Activity 3D
What are carbon credits?
Ans:- some organization off set their use of non-renewable resources through purchasing credits in
renewable energy projects such as tree planting and wind farms. There are a number of companies
that help organization find the right source from which to purchase carbon credits

Does your organisation purchase carbon credits? If so, where from? If not, use the internet to
find a source in your state or territory from which to do so.
Ans:- organization purchasing carbon credits may be:
1. Compliance obligated buyers
2. Supply side market investors
3. Voluntary market participants
These carbon off setters purchase the credits from an investment fund or a carbon development
company that has aggregated the credits from individual projects.

List the hazardous and/or toxic materials used within your organisation and try
and find a non-hazardous/toxic material alternative.
Ans:- hazardous materials can be found in more industry sectors that you might think, such as:
1. Hairdressing- lost o chemicals are used within hair styling products
2. Welding- dangerous fumes
3. Cleaning- common cleaning products contain toxic chemicals
4. Bakeries- flour and dust can be hazardous to people with allergies and asthma
5. Mechanics and engineering- garages contain a number of products that are hazardous and
toxic including:
 Paints
 Oils
 Grease
 Exhaust fumes
Non- hazardous alternatives
Surface cleaners:1 tsp vegetable oil based soap/detergent 1 tsp borax.
Squeeze of lemon 1 qt warm warm.
Floor cleaner ½ vinegar 1 gla warm water.
Polish 1/8 c food-grade lineased oil. 1/8 vinegar

Estimated Time 30 Minutes

Objective To provide you with an opportunity to implement costing strategies to fully
utilise environmental assets.
Activity 3E
Does your organisation participate in the National Landcare Program, and if so, how?
Ans:- land is one of the most important environmental assets as it provides the necessary
environmental to produce all of the resources we need to survive both physically and economically.
Land should be looked after properly bt industries and communities to ensure it remains a
sustainable asset. The departments of agriculture and environment are jointly responsible for the
initiative which places a responsibility on all to improve sustainability of land, not just those
industries that grow produce from the land. It is important to consider the direct and indirect
impact your organisation’s activity has on all of our environmental assets and act
accordingly to
develop more environmentally sustainable working pratices.

How can humans damage soil?

Ans:-Humans can damage the soil by dumping chemicals into it which can pose a serious risk to the
health of people and wildlife. The most common way of damaging the soil is depleting nutrients by
over farming and allowing livestock to over graze until all plant life is gone. This is called
desertification and can cause serious problems such as starvation.

What environmental assets are particularly important to your organisation and why?
Ans:- when considering how we utilize environmental assets it is important to assets their value and
this should be done at the beginning of a project, before any activity is under taken. You should
evaluate the environmental, social and cultural impacts and
Subsequent effect the activity will have.
1. Land
2. Water
3. Air
4. Subsoil

Estimated Time 1 hour

Objective To provide you with an opportunity to use and/or develop evaluation and
monitoring, tools and technology and to document and communicate
outcomes to report on efficiency targets to key personnel and stakeholders.
Activity 4A
What impact are the policies having on the environment, human resources, andfinances?
Ans:- use all the information you have gathered to identify areas for improvement in environmental
sustainability. You may need comparative data to do this, such as energy used this year against last
year, or comparisons between the efficiency of two different machines performing the same
operation.

Document your findings from the monitoring and evaluation process in an

appropriate formatto communicate the information to the relevant key
personnel and stakeholders and attach toyour workbook. This may take more
than one form if necessary and can include the use of technology.

Objective To provide you with an opportunity to evaluate strategies and improvement
plans.
Activity 4B
For each of your SMART targets, identify and evaluate how effective and/or successful each
of the following components was. Seek input from relevant stakeholders in your evaluation
and document their contributions.

1. The activity you implemented

We could save ten percent on water and electricity waste.
2. The procedure used to undertake the activity
We devised a strategy to cut our utility usage.
3. The outcome of the activity
Following the evaluation, we were able to achieve our objectives
4. The impact it had on the environment
These enhancements have a good environmental impact, such as waste management and
carbon foot print.

For each target identify areas for improvement and suggest ways in which it could be improved.

Ans:-
1. Calculate and record the difference between the quantities of raw materials and
finished goods you produce.
2. Examine the efficiency of each phase in the process and look for methods to
improve it.
3. Set a set minimal amount of waste and keep within 10% of that amount.
4. Negotiate waste reduction strategies with suppliers that benefit both parties.
5. Consult your waste management contractor for tips on how to cut down
on trash.
6. Keep track of and evaluate the amount of garbage your produce generates.
7. If at all possible, reuse containers.

Estimated Time 30 Minutes

Objective To provide you with an opportunity to set new efficiency targets, and
investigate and apply new tools and strategies.
Activity 4C
Using the results of your evaluation and any other relevant information or initiatives, set
yourself new SMART efficiency targets.

In my smart plan, I'm cutting back on electricity and water by another 5%.

The first SMART plan concerns water.

S: We need to conserve more water because it helps safeguard and preserve our ecosystem
(including wildlife) and reduces the consequences of drought and water scarcity. Save
energy and money by conserving water. This will help you save money on your water and
electricity bills.
M: Is it quantifiable? Yes, you can check our plan on the site or read the metre.
A: Can it be done? Yes, by implementing a specific plan and providing training to employees
so that they understand what needs to be done.
R: Is it plausible? Yes, because we're attempting to conserve up to 5% of our consumption.
T: Timeline, we'll need about 2 months to complete our project.

Electricity is the subject of the second SMART strategy.

S: We need to save more electricity because less pollution and greenhouse gas emissions
are produced. Our objective is to cut our electricity consumption by another 5%.
M: Is it quantifiable? Yes, we can do so by looking at our website's plan and bills.

A: Can it be done? Yes, it is by comprehending our requirements and ensuring that the
personnel is aware of his responsibilities.

R: Is it plausible? Yes, because the target is only 5% of the way there.

T: Timeline, we're given ourselves a three-month deadline to meet our target.

Estimated Time 30 Minutes

Objective To provide you with an opportunity to promote successful strategies and
reward participants where possible.
Activity 4D
Identify a successful strategy you have employed and determine and complete the best way
to promote it. State to whom you intend to promote it and explain your reasons for choosing
this method.

When we observe one of the good workers stacking the dirty plate improperly, we know it’s
time to be honest and transparent. And we bring them all together for a sit-down meeting with all
of the employees in order to lessen the risk at work.

Section A: Skills activity

Objective: To provide you with an opportunity to show you have the required skills for this unit.

This activity will enable you to demonstrate the following skills:

 Reading
 Writing
 Oral communication
 Numeracy
 Navigate the world of work
 Interact with other
 Get the work done

Answer the activity in as much detail as possible, considering your organisational requirements.

This activity should be conducted in the workplace or in a simulated work environment. Tasks will
need to be observed and recorded by the assessor/third party in the observations and
demonstrations checklist document.

1. As a workplace project (or simulated workplace project), perform a review of the current
sustainability practices used within your work area. This should include:

 Reading and analysing relevant texts, numerical information, codes, legislation against
current workplace practices
 Reviewing workplace sustainability information and any relevant reports
 Gathering information through workplace discussions with others
 Documenting your findings and assessing outcomes for reporting.
Ans:- we are now going to revisit these alternative solutions and evaluate their suitability to implement in accordance
with your organization.
Alternative solutions
Carbon management
Ways in which to reduce your carbon foot print include:
 Avoiding emissions from your site and from energy use- have lights on sensors so that they go out when rooms
are not occupied, turn equipment off at night, use video conferencing instead of travelling to meetings in
vehicles.
 Reducing emissions- try to modify or replace equipment to make it more energy efficient re-use energy from a
pre-existing process
 Change energy sources- invest in renewable energy sources such as solar panel.
Waste assessment and reduction.
A waste assessment enables you to identify all of the distinct waste streams that leave your facility, as well as how
they are generated. It allows you to estimate the financial expenditures as well as the environmental impact of trash
disposal. You might even discover that some items you thought were rubbish and worthless can be re-used or sold.
When conducting a waste assessment, consider whether your organization performs the following operations:
 Sell your waste to other organisations
 Separate waste appropriately
 Recycle all recyclable waste
 Liaise with other local businesses to try and improve waste management.
 Reuse containers where possible
 Reuse materials in different stages of production
 Track and review the amount of waste your produce
 Examine each step in the process for efficiency and possible ways to improve the process

2. Present your findings to your manager/the relevant person, to inform and discuss workplace
sustainability objectives.
Ans- working as a chef in a restaurant has also some responsibility toward the environment and respecting all the
regulation and legislation related to it
In victoria all organization should respect the following:
 Environmental Protection Act 1970
 Climate change and Environment Protection Amendment Act 2012
 Pollution of Waste by oils and noxious Substance Act 1986
 Other legislation relating
o Noise
o Waste
o Water
o Air
o Land and groundwater
o Odour human health

As a chef I try to use nontoxic cleaning products and every month we attend training session for one day
about how to make our work better for the environment for example for reduce the usage of electricity
and water we can:
 Turning off all lights and equipment when not in use
 Using the most energy efficient lighting
 Installing more windows or sky lights to reduce the need for artificial lighting
To reduce usage of water we can:
 Use the minimum amount of water required-for example if boiling a kettle for one drink, only fill
it with that specific amount
 Fix any leaking or dripping taps
 Using low odour and toxic substance and materials
 Closing windows and doors when substances and materials
 Find a cheaper way of treating wastewater

Section B: Knowledge activity (Q & A)

Objective: To provide you with an opportunity to show you have the required knowledge for this
unit.

The answers to the following questions will enable you to demonstrate your knowledge of:

 Relevant internal and external sources and how they can be used to identify sustainability
improvements
 Compliance requirements for the work area with reference to legislation, regulations, codes
of practice and workplace procedures that relate to environmental and resource issues
 Common environmental and energy efficiency issues within the industry
 Benchmarks for environmental and resource sustainability that are relevant to the
organisation
 Organisational systems and procedures that relate to environmental and resource
sustainability improvements

Answer each question in as much detail as possible, considering your organisational requirements
for each one.

1. Identify the industry sector of your organisation and detail one best practice approach to
environmentally sustainable working practices. Explain how this is relevant to your own area
of responsibility.

Ans:- Waste management Effictively managing waste is vital to ensuring the best possible use of resources. Whilst the
details and goals of environmental management plans will vary from one organization to another, every organization
should have a waste management system in place because every organization produces waste products and has to
dispose of them. Types of waste might include:
 food waste
 plastic recycling
 paper recycling
 toxic waste
 glass recycling
 electronic waste
 waste oil collection
 industrial waste
 energy waste.
our organization produce a number of different types of waste and for some, such as toxic and hazardous waste,
regulations on how to dispose of it may apply. For this sort of waste you may be restricted in making improvements
or changes to the way in which you manage it and/or the resources required to dispose of it. To find ways of making
improvements to waste management systems in your organization you need to conduct a waste assessment.
The aims of a waste assessment are to:
 determine every waste stream leaving the organisation’s site
 possible liabilities and/or risks
 identify opportunities for improvements
 quantity each waste stream for the purpose of benchmarking
 calculate the costs of waste in terms of:
o treatment
o storage
o handling
o disposal
o labour
o energy
o water
o lost raw materials

2. State the compliance requirements within your work area for all relevant
environmental/sustainability legislation, WHS issues and requirements, regulations and codes
of practice.
Victoria:
 Environmental Protection Act 1970
 Climate change and Environment Protection Amendment Act 2012
 National Environment Protection Councils (Victoria) Act 1995
 Pollution of Waters by Oils and Noxious Substance Act 1986
 Other legislation relating to:
 Noise
 Waste
 Water
 Air
 Land and groundwater
 Human health.

3. Identify all environmental and energy efficiency issues, systems and procedures related to
your organisation and industry practice.

1. Carbon management
2. Waste assessment and reduction
3. Improve storage
4. Energy conservation
5. Water conservation
6. Reducing odour and air emission

4. What industry benchmarks do you/your organisation need to follow to maintain correct

environmental and resource practices?

impact on local community

1. Energy/utilities use
2. Greenhouse gas emissions
3. Impact on the local community
4. Risk posed by the site or activity to the environment

5. Identify areas for improvement in environmental sustainability within the systems and
procedures (as in question 3) through own knowledge and research, and communication
withkey personnel and stakeholders, taking into account external benchmarks for
improving resource use within your work area.

Area for improvement in environmental sustainability are:

 Cutting down on food waste
 Minimizing water and electricity usage.
 Eliminating plastic
 Creating a paperless or organization
 Disposal
 Manufacturing products
 Improve purchases

Stakeholders are individuals and groups both inside and outside the organization who have director or
indirect interest in the organization’s conduct, actions, products and service, including:
 customer
 employees at all levels of the organization
 government
 investors
 local community
 other organization
 suppliers.

Ways in which information can be gleaned from stakeholders include:

 questionnaires
 feedback forms
 customer surveys
 group forms
 focus groups.

Section C: Performance activity

Objective: To provide you with an opportunity to demonstrate the required performance
elements for this unit.

This activity will enable you to demonstrate the following performance evidence:

 Analyse information from a range of sources to identify current procedures, practices and
compliance requirements in relation to environmental and resource sustainability
 Consult and communicate with relevant stakeholders to seek input and encourage
engagement with developing and implementing sustainability improvements, encourage
feedback and suggestions and report on outcomes
 Plan and organise work group activities that incorporate sustainable practices
 Apply continuous improvement approach to sustainability performance
 Apply change management techniques to support sustainability performance

Answer the activity in as much detail as possible, considering your organisational requirements.

This activity should be conducted in the workplace or in a simulated work environment. Tasks will
need to be observed and recorded by the assessor/third party in the observations and
demonstrations checklist document.

 As a workplace project, conduct the following:

 Gather information on sustainability practices and recommendations from a variety of

external sources, in order to analyse if this could be incorporated/used at your workplace
(or within your business industry). This may include information from the relevant
business sector and business peers, sustainable codes of practice, legislation and
information on resources.
Ans:- workplace practice for better environmental sustainability encourage
 employees yo use public transportation.
 Change to eco-friendly office lighting
 Switch to post-consumer waste paper, paper products and packaging
 Become involved in your community
 Perform an energy audit to identify resource and cost savings opportunities.
 Conduct a group discussion with the relevant stakeholders at your place of work to assess
the feasibility of your research into sustainability and to develop sustainability/resource
improvements
Ans:- stakeholders are frequently useful sources of suggestions and solutions for improving areas of the
organization about which they have specific experience and insight. Because they don’t have a working
knowledge of the systems that need to improved, their proposals may be items that management
hasn’t considered. Employees that deal with systems and procedures on a regular basis may be able to come
up
with easy ways to improve the organization’s environmental efficiency. When it comes to creating goals
for enhancing environmental sustainability within your company, you may need particular, specialist
knowledge and experience from key individuals.
 If your company does not have someone dedicated to managing its environmental concerns, you will
almost certainly need outside help and advice.

 Produce a report of your meeting to show your initial research, any recommendations and
to document the discussions of your meeting
Ans:- fill in the gaps in research and development programmes related to food security, climate
change, environmental protection, and future landscapes, which are all challenges for the Land
Care movement.
 From this, produce a plan to show how the work group activities that incorporate
sustainable practices can be organized
Ans:- because success stories should be shred, it is critical to promote and convey
tactics that have been effective, their impact, and why they were successful. By
adopting comparable techniques, one organisation’s success can be replicated by
others. The greater our impact on building a local, national and global sustainable
environment in which industry can fully utilize also protecting environmental assets..
 Implement the work group activities and monitor this to ensure a continuous
improvement approach is taken
Ans:- Every member of the organization is responsible for continuous
improvement in their efforts to identify and eliminate waste in every process.
Waste can be found in all areas of an organization including:
 Technology, machinery and equipment
 Energy
 Methods of reporting
 Administration
 Design and production methods
 Materials
 Labor
 Management
 Storage
Continuous improvement can only be achieved if all employees have the same
mentality and approach. All personnel must pay attention to detail and strive to make
operations as efficient as feasible. Sharing your process improvement ideas and
solutions with tea members and management it also necessary for the improvement
to spread throughout the organisaton.
 Assist and guide the work group, to support the sustainability changes.
Ans:- A sustainability covenant or compact is an agreement between an institution, usually the government,
and an organization that pushes the organization to enhance e its environmental sustainability efforts by
providing financing and establishing performance goals. You must now review your overall strategy and
improvement plans, having completed the first part of identify areas within your organization that require
changes in their environmental sustainability.
