are some suggestions to follow:

2. The sentences must come in an order that makes sense.
3. Use signal words like first, next, then, finally, or lastly.

First, measure the desired amount of rice to be cooked. Put the rice in the

Objective: Writes different forms of simple composition (letters) as a


response to stories read.

YOUR LESSON FOR TODAY:

A letter is made up of different parts. The Main or Basic Parts of a letter are:

1. The heading of the letter usually includes the address and date at the
top of the letter.
2. The salutation or greeting is the opening like Dear Mom followed by a
comma for a friendly letter.
3. The body is the heart of the letter. This is where you write your
message.
Things to remember in writing the body:
a. Be courteous.
b. Write simply and naturally.
c. Make your letter interesting.
d. Make your letter coherent and easy to read.
e. Review your letter
4. The closing is the ending of your letter such as Sincerely followed by a
comma.
5. The signature is where sign your name at the end of the letter just below
the closing.

Once upon a time there was a little boy named Justin who became

Time passed, and his feeling of despair just grew and grew.

4. Afterward, write a closing like "Sincerely" or "Love" on the right, followed
by a comma.

Writing a letter can be used to response to a story / poem read.

The following are the things that you should remember in writing a letter:

1. Include all five parts when writing a letter.


2. The heading includes the sender's address and the date. The sender's
address needs to be located at the top of the page in the center or at the
top right-hand corner. The date needs to be located under the sender's
address on the left-hand side of the page above the greeting.
3. The greeting needs to be located under the heading on the left-hand side
of the page. It would include such words as Dear __________.
4. The body of the letter includes the message. It is written in paragraph form.
5. The closing of the letter would include such words as Sincerely, or Your
friend.
6. The signature is your signed name under the closing.

Read the story. Write a letter to the donkey or salt seller.


A salt seller used to carry the salt bag on his donkey to the market every day.
On the way they had to cross a stream.
One day the donkey suddenly tumbled down the stream and the salt bag also
fell into the water. The salt dissolved in the water and hence the bag became very
light to carry. The donkey was happy.
Then the donkey started to play the same trick every day.
The salt seller came to understand the trick and decided to teach a lesson to
it. The next day he loaded a cotton bag on the donkey. Again it played the same trick

became very heavy to carry and the donkey suffered.

Objective: Recognizes the parts of a simple paragraph.

YOUR LESSON FOR TODAY:

Paragraph is a group of sentences covering one topic.

The basic parts of the paragraph:


1. Topic Sentence
The topic sentence tells the reader what the paragraph is about. It
introduces the main idea of the paragraph.
2. The supporting details
The body or supporting details give details and support the main idea.
3. The closing / transition sentence
The closing / transition sentence is the last sentence in the paragraph.
The closing restates the main idea.
The transition closes one topic while leading into the next

I have learned many facts about owls. First, most owls re nocturnal

socket so they must turn their entire head. Finally, the smallest owl is the Elf

interesting birds.

PRACTICE EXERCISE 1:

My brother’s room is always a mess. There are clothes on


the floor. The bed isn’t made. There is dust under the furniture. As
you can see, my brother’s room is really untidy.

It’s a wonderful day to be outside. The flowers are blooming.


The sun is shining, and there isn’t a cloud in sight. The birds are
chirping. In conclusion, it’s just gorgeous today

Every child should have a pet. Children need the


companionship that pets provide. Having pets helps children
develop a strong sense of responsibility. Children learn a lot about
life from their animals. Children really need pets.

GENERALIZATION

A paragraph is a group of sentences about one topic and


indicated by indentation. It contains a topic sentence, supporting details,
and closing sentence.
The topic sentence is usually the first sentence of the paragraph.
It states the main idea of the paragraph. A good topic sentence tells the
reader exactly what the rest of the paragraph will be about.
The supporting sentences are the middle sentences of the
paragraph. They provide details such as explanations or examples that
expand on or support the topic sentence.
The closing sentence is the last sentence in the paragraph.
It restates the main idea.

APPLICATION
Complete the graphic information with appropriate part of the
paragraph.

Dogs are trained to perform different tasks. They protect us from


thieves. They guard our house. They are pet animals. They are called
man’s best friend.
