Transitions

Whole Class
STRATEGY USED:
RATIONALE:
I am implementing this strategy because a lot of high school student tend to lose track of what is due or procrastinate
the assignments. This helps students organize their different classes. It is connected to Marzano’s Top Nine by
Reinforcing Effort and Providing Recognition. I have gathered evidence from personal experience. Whenever I was
not using an agenda, I would lose track of what needed to be done. The cooperating teacher told me how he has a
class full of students with IEP’s and they seemingly lost track of everything. He thought an agenda would be useful
for those students.
When given a workload, Student will be able to turn in and properly organize their work for the semester for at least
one class subject across 3 consecutive days.
1. Students answered question about how they organize their classes now
2. Get students input on their way and how they are feeling
3. Students handed a printed monthly calendar for their use
4. Students took the general biology syllabus and filled in the date provided
5. Students then said what benefits this might have for them
6. Students were then suggested to place other subjects work on calendar once they left
The strategy was useful and successful. A lot of the students like the idea of having their work written out
and easily accessible. Some came up to me and said they were going to get an agenda for the store, so they have
their work by the year not just the month.

PERSONAL REFLECTION:
I felt the session went well. I struggled with student engagement because the class was full of students with
IEP’s. There were only a few students who voluntarily answered my questions that were being asked. I feel like
some strengths were the visual that was made for the student to base their work off. The students were able to
complete the calendar with minimum struggles. Only one student threw their’s away as they walked out the door.
