Qualitative Reading Inventory

I began with Pre-Primer 1 because I had seen the student encounter significant difficulties

reading when I observed him. I wanted to be sure there were absolutely no issues whatsoever

with basic sight words. Fortunately, he was 100% independent with those words. When given

Pre-Primer 2/3, he received a score of 85% which put him at an instructional level. I continued to

the Primer word list where the student remained at an instructional level, but it was barely above

frustration. I continued to the Second word list just to be sure that that was his limit and sure

enough I discontinued after six unidentified words. The data shows that he is at the Primer level

which is where we began with passages.
