 what wild animals live in your region;
 whether it is a good idea to keep a wild animal as a pet, and why;
 why people build zoos in cities and towns;
 what your attitude to zoos is.
 Task 2. You are going to give a talk about pets. You will have to start in 1.5 minutes and speak for
not more than 2 minutes (10–12 sentences). Remember to say:
 why people keep pets; 
 what pets are most popular in big cities;
 whether having pets is a big responsibility, and why;
 what your attitude to keeping pets is.
 Task 3. You are going to give a talk about environmental problems. You will have to start in 1.5
minutes and speak for not more than 2 minutes (10–12 sentences). Remember to say:
 why people worry about environmental problems nowadays;
 what the most serious environmental problem in the place where you live is;
 what young people can do to improve the ecological situation; 
 what your attitude to environmental problems is.

As I know, there are squirrels, foxes, wolves living in the forests in my region. I heard about even bigger
animals like bears here too. 
Of course having a pet is a big responsibility. Having a wild animal as a pet is even bigger responsibility. It
is not easy to look after this kind of pet. For example, we don’t know how to feed them. Also, it may be
dangerous for the owner and his guests. I wouldn’t recommend anybody to have a wild animal as a pet.
People build zoos in the cities to show adults and children how the wild animals look and live. For the
specialists it is easier to observe wild animals’ behavior and habits while they are in the zoos. Also zoos are
built to save endangered animal species.
 Zoos have their advantages and disadvantages, so my attitude to them cannot be strongly positive or
negative.

It’s true that nowadays a lot of people keep pets. I think that a pet can be a good friend especially for elder
people who live alone. They have somebody to care about and don’t feel lonely. Also many parents buy pets
for their children to teach them how to be responsible.
I’m sure that cats and dogs are the most popular pets in big cities. It’s easier to buy food for them than for
exotic pets like snakes, for example.  And in my opinion it’s even better to have a cat in the city as you don’t
need to take it for a walk.
Of course, having a pet is a big responsibility. If you have one you can’t go away for a weekend as you have
somebody to look after it at home. You can’t think only about yourself, you have to think about your pet too.
My attitude to keeping pets is strongly positive as I have got a cat myself. My cat is the prettiest and the
cleverest animal in the world!

People worry about environmental problems now because the Earth’s climate has already changed
significantly. We all know about the global warming and the serious problems which it causes such as
hurricanes, droughts and so on. The climate change makes us think more about the way we live now to save
the planet for our children.
My region also has some environmental problems. There are different kinds of environmental pollution like
air pollution, water pollution and land pollution here. Forests around the city are full of used bottles and
cans. Such litter also can be found in rivers and lakes in my region.
Each and every one of us can do something for our environment. We can consume less, separate waste and
do not waste water while brushing our teeth.
I think we should admit that environmental problems exist and start solving them as soon as possible.
