Activity planning with an outline:

Prohibit violent video games.
Parents should be careful if their children like to play violent video games. A study states
that violent video games can trigger aggressive behavior as children grow up.
Children who repeatedly play violent video games learn mindsets that will stick with them
and influence their behavior as they get older. These impacts occur regardless of age,
gender or culture.
It is the same with violent games. “You practice being wary of adversaries, practice thinking
it is acceptable to respond aggressively to provocation, and practice being indifferent to the
consequences of violence,”
Researchers found that over time children began to think more aggressively. When
provoked at home, at school or in other situations, children will react the way they would
when playing a violent video game.
The habit of repeated aggressive thinking can promote the long-term effects of violent play
on aggression. “’Violent video games are a model of physical aggression,’ said Craig
Anderson, director of the Center for the Study of Violence at Iowa State University.
The result was that boys were more physically aggressive and spent more time playing
violent games than girls. However, by gender, the effects of violent video games on behavior
were the same for girls and boys.
To test whether violent play had a greater effect on more aggressive children, researchers
compared children with high and low levels of aggression. As with gender, they found no
significant differences in the effects of violent play.
“The results are a pretty strong argument that gender and age really don’t influence the
relationship between video game play, aggressive thinking and aggressive behavior,” said
Sara Prot, a psychology graduate student at Iowa State.
More than 90 percent of children and adolescents play video games, and researchers say
most of these games contain some type of violent content. However, that doesn’t mean all
games are bad and develop bad habits in kids.
