Espra power failure

I. Objective
1. To be prepared and to come up to an action plan that will ensure the safety of the guest and the
colleagues in the hotel / resort during power outage.
2. To minimize unnecessary disturbances in the hotel operation during power outage.

II. Policy
The property must be equipped with secondary power in the event of power failure either scheduled or
unexpected and regardless of the duration.

III. Procedure and Guidelines


The following departments have a direct responsibility in handling the situation.

1. The Engineering Department:


1.1. The Shift Engineer or Technician on duty must monitor the operation of generator and
accomplish the monitoring form in an hourly interval.
1.2. Ensure all the emergency lights at public hallways, walkways, corridors and exit ways in the
hotel core and at the back /front of the houses are working effectively.
1.3. Check the generator set operating parameters are within safe limits. This includes enough supply
of diesel fuel.
1.4. Engineering Supervisor or Shift Engineer should report the status on the estimated running
operation of the Generator set
1.5. Shift Technician or Duty Engineer must do rounds on all operating equipment which may have
tripped off during power interruption.
1.6. The total diesel consumption must be calculated and logged after the power interruption by the
Shift Engineer.

2. The FO Manager and the Security Officer:


2.1. Check all lights and reset if necessary
2.3. To monitor and be alert on the hotel security level
2.4 Ensure the Main Fire Alarm Control Panel, panic button

3. The Chief Engineer:


3.1. To communicate with the General Manager the status of the generator and the situation update
of the power interruption.
3.2. To communicate with the Local Utility Company for the cause of power
outage and the estimated time to resume and restore back the power supply.
3.3. To communicate with all department head and brief the latest situation.
