College Readiness
What really matters in life to us these days and times? It may depend on who you are talking to

but, life skills are essential for teens who are learning to go through life. Attending school

everyone has their own interest and hobbies in life but, what does the school actually teach us

while we are attending? I attended Bristol High School in 2019 was my graduation year, in terms

of college readiness the school’s curriculum was very low and it needs to improve for students in

the future. Coming out of Bristol High I was not able to comprehend many new college concepts

and maneuver through real life experiences due to the lack of college readiness in this school.

Starting with the courses that they offer there are not any classes that show students how to deal

with their finances as they leave high school. This is super important because living life past high

school your finances are very important to maintain in order to succeed in life. For many years

Bristol High have not equipped their students with the proper life skills to succeed past high

school which resulted in many students ending up stuck or stagnant in their life and they stay

around the neighborhood. Moving forward Bristol High School needs to enforce more classes

and they need to pay for more speakers to speak to their students to open their minds about

college and what it is really about. With the classes they need to incorporate finance classes

along with college readiness classes that other high schools provide for their students. This

change would greatly increase students successes through college and more students would come

out with degrees coming out of Bristol High School. People speak up to the board and present

this message to the school because we need change and success in our youth.
