2. Method
This study used descriptive qualitative design in the form of words based
on the description that occurred in the field in-depth and as it is. According to
Berg and Lune (2014, p.8), ―Qualitative research properly seeks answers by
examining various social settings and the groups or individuals who inhabit these
settings.
This study was conducted for one month which started from 29th September
2021 up to 30th October 2021 at SMKN 4 Malang with the tenth-grader as the
participants. They were from three classes Design Graphic A, Animation A, and
Software Engineering B classes. The total number of participants was 107
students, consisting of 36 students from Design Graphic A, 35 students from
Animation A, and 36 students from Software Engineering B.
The data collection in this study was carried out in several ways:
1. Literature study was carried out by reading and recording various references
such as books, journals, magazines, articles, the internet, and others related to the
research.
2. Observations were made for collecting data by conducting direct observations.
The researcher watched and made some notes on the English teaching and
learning process of the tenth-grader English teachers.
3. Students’ scores and the attendance list of the tenth-grade students (107
students) are also used for collecting data.
4. The researcher’s questionnaires with the tenth-grader students are also used for
collecting data.

have their own success criteria for their teaching. A success criterion is a list of
features that a teacher wants the students to include in their work during the
course of a lesson. It is a really good way of making children aware of what is
expected of them and can also encourage them to extend themselves during the
course of the lesson (https://www.theschoolrun.com). It has also been done by
the tenth-grade English teachers of SMKN 4 Malang. They determined the
criterion of their successful teaching as explained these; 1) The English learning
using telegram is very useful If 90%-100% of the students can get a score above
the KKM; 2) The English learning using telegram is useful If 80%-89% of the
students can get a score above the KKM; 3)The English learning using telegram
is useful enough If 70%-79% of the students can get a score above the KKM and
4) The English learning using telegram is not useful If only 69% of the students
get a score above the KKM
