ABSTRACT

Sari-sari stores are manual base as for directing stock framework they are the

cycle by which you track your item all through your whole stock association, from

buying to creation to end deals. The stock framework empowers to deal with the business

and it assists with playing out every single undertaking in a risk way and this structure

makes your business to get a certifiable edge over your adversaries However, retail

business additionally simple to lose its conceivable client in the event that they don't have

adequate stocks in the store. The serious issue of the store is they don't have legitimate

stock control framework in directing and dealing with their deal and stock degree of the

store.

By proposing Sale and Inventory Management System to the store as the

substitution of old manual ways, the undertaking centers in giving structure refreshed and

more flexible capacities to the store. The target of the framework is to give works in

managing things in the store considerably more helpfully. To accomplish the protests

prompted, the level of the task will zero in on the focuses, for example, information base,

report making and retail location of the store. What's more, the improvement of structure

will be set up on separated framework or window based. The system will be able to

provide report which includes the daily, weekly, monthly and annual report of the sales.

The system will also have the capability to compute the customer bill, able to generate or

print receipt, can sell either in wholesale or retail and can categorize product. And at the

same time, it tracks your goods throughout your entire supply chain.

6
In building up the framework, stage advancement model is picked. This philosophy will

play out the improvement stage in as indicated by modules underlines in the extent of the

undertaking. In this way, variant by form of the framework will be created before the

entire complete framework is prepared to utilize. The normal after effect of the

framework is that the UI to be created will be easy to understand so it very well may be

handled effectively by individuals with no IT foundation. In addition, the framework is

likewise expected to serve its capacities and helps the Store in decreasing time and desk

work in dealing with their stock the Aljoice Enterprise to help the business to promote

quality of service, efficiently sort materials and goods, and avoid waste of time.

INTRODUCTION

Every enterprise needs inventory for smooth running of its activities. It serves as a

link between production and distribution process. There is a time lag between the

recognition of needs and its fulfillment. The greater the gap, the higher requirements for

inventory. A sales and inventory management system are the process by which you track

your goods throughout your entire supply chain, from purchasing to production to end

sales. It governs how you approach sales and inventory management for your business.

Any venture that handles stock will need a system to accurately track and control it.

Without one, you’ll be working on an entirely ad-hoc basis — and you’ll quickly run into

situations where your business is overstocked or under-stocked. Sales and inventory

system, tells you the number of components or ingredients you need to create or assemble

your final product.

Point of sale (POS), a critical piece of a point of purchase, refers to the place

where a customer executes the payment for goods or services and where sales taxes may

become payable. It can be in a physical store, where POS terminals and systems are used

to process card payments or a virtual sales point such as a computer or mobile electronic

device. Electronic POS software systems streamline retail operations by automating the

transaction process and tracking important sales data. Basic systems include an electronic

cash register and software to coordinate data collected from daily purchases.

Combined, A point of sales inventory management system allows a business

owner to have more than one business location and adequately keep track of inventory at

each without being present — no more worries about employee theft or pricing
2

inconsistency between one location and another. Point of sale systems take care of those

problems that result when management isn't present.

One of the biggest and probably one of the most important advantages of an

automated sales and inventory system is that it helps businesses focus on their biggest

goal to improve the customers experience at the store (Mueller, 2011). With this system,

companies can have a better understanding of customer demand through the analysis of

their sales and inventory. The retail business owners can do online selling, electronic

payment processing, integrated accounting, marketing, video surveillance and much more

in an easy way with no stress.

The inventory system enables to get a complete control over the business and it

helps to perform each and every task in a quick manner and this system makes your

business to obtain a competitive edge over your competitors. The ultimate aim of this

system is to increase your profit and sales. The complete inventory system will be very

useful in making your business perform well in the market and you can make accurate

report with the help of this system (Aspespos, 2011).

The researchers choose to create a system for Aljoice Enterprise to help the

business to promote quality of service, efficiently sort materials and goods, and avoid

waste of time.
3

Statement of the problem

Sari-sari stores are manual based in terms of managing inventory. Checking for

products after products, which ones are still in stock, which are out stock and which one

are not available to sell. Manually counting the items of how many are in stock currently

that day. There’s an instance that all the items cannot count due to many products which

may affect the inventory records of the store. How will the admin manage the product

inventory that shows the quantity of the products?

Monthly sales are noted down by a book or piece of paper, giving room for errors

and repeating of terms which can be redundant. Giving wrong computation in handling

receipts in turn giving wrong output in sales, it is also prone to be lost or be discarded

easily. How will the admin receive an accurate full sales report that shows the total

amount of profit earned?

Customers are important asset to any store. It will pose a problem if there’s a

wave of customers and you can’t keep track all of them if one of the customers is not

paid. How will the admin or cashier have proof of transaction with the customer if its

paid or with due date if not paid?

Importance of the study

Aljoice Enterprise Inventory System with Point of Sales is intended to provide an

effective tool in sales. This will be beneficial to the following entities:

Aljoice Enterprise. In business like this, time is the essence, so with the help of

computerize sales system the business can use their time in a more productive way. They

can also lessen their expenses in profit and expenses by automatically inputs materials
4

and goods instead of manually. They can respond quickly for the query of a customer and

they will not perform any calculation anymore because the system will do it for them and

allow them to get accurate and timely information.

Admin. After the implementation of the system, the manager could easily view

the sales of the product every day.

Cashier. This simplifies up their work in managing the sales.

Customers. Customers will not wait for long just to purchase the products. They

will patronize the company because of fast and accurate service of the company.

Researchers. This research helps the enhancement of the researcher’s ability,

knowledge and skills in software development.

Future Researchers. This research will serve as reference for the future

researcher that chose sales and inventory system as their title.

Objectives of the Study

This section includes descriptions of the specific objectives and methods for (1)

the general objectives, and (2) the specific objectives

There were 3 general objectives of this study:

1. The growth of the business.

2. Sorting inventory for products.

3. Keeping tabs for payment and profit.

For a more specific set of objectives, at per client request:

1. The minimal feel of the system for easy sorting and organizing. Easy on the eye

for the client as the client has poor eyesight.

5

2. A sorting of inventory for products. Having an inventory list with invoice

number to keep track which ones are out of stock, have limited stock, etc.

3. An inventory for keeping tabs of payment, what the customer bought, and who

hasn’t paid yet.

Time and Place of the Study

The proposal took place at the physical store of Aljoice Enterprise. A small sari-

sari store located at Montefaro Village East. Montefaro Village is a townhouse located at

Carsadang Bago within the intersection of NIA Rd. The researchers conducted an

interview via online media (social messenger). Conceptualized the visual of the system

using the data gathered from the interview. The initial planning of the proposal started at

October 6, 2020 estimated to finished by December 2020.

Scope and Limitations

The study will focus on the development of Inventory Management System with

Point-of-Sale.

The system will be able to provide report which includes the daily, weekly,

monthly and annual report of the sales. The system will also have the capability to

compute the customer bill, able to generate or print receipt, can sell either in wholesale or

retail and can categorize product.

The admin has the control of the system, adjusting the price range of the products,

edit description, and manage the stock items.

The cashier has a limited control in the system such as sales and customer only.
6

The system will have features of recording payment, creating receipt for

customers. File reports of how many products are available, keeping tabs of which ones

are in stock. Reports on how much money is coming in, how much is the total change of

the customers and having tabs who bought and who hasn’t paid.

Transactions using credit cards, checks, and any online payment methods are

beyond the scope of the system. Computing discounts is not included in the system. Also,

the system has no online features.

One of the biggest problems with any computerized system is the potential for a

system crash. A corrupt hard drive, power outages and other technical issues can result in

the loss of needed data. This will cause an at the least, a hindrance in the business as the

needed data is inaccessible.

Log in. In this module the system has two different accounts, the admin and the cashier

account. The cashier can access only the sales and customers while the admin can access

all the features of the system. Like add, delete, edit, and update in the system.

Sales. In this module, the system will provide a report of each of every customer order

request. In turn fulfilling the requested orders. Computing the total of purchase and the

change of the customer providing a receipt for verification.

Product Inventory. In this module, the system will show in-depth logs of all products

that had been bought. Shows which products that are out of stock, delete which ones are

not available. Shows the expiry date of perishable products.

Categorization of Products. In this module, the system will give easy access of the

finished products by sorting it by category. Sorting them based on which perishable from

non-perishable, there will be a sub-category for more specific products (i.e., Household
7

Cleaning Products, Customizable Products, Women’s Fashion, and Women’s Shoes).

Customer Record. In this module, the system will provide records of the customer

including who are the ones that already paid and who haven’t yet. There is an option as

well to add a note.

Sales Report. In this module, the system will provide to the admin all the transaction of

products, total profit, and as well as the name of the customer. Receive reports of

products that have been sold during a particular time frame. Provide daily, weekly,

monthly and annual report of the sales with print option.

User Manager. In this module, the system will provide the admin to add employees and

assign each of them role. The admin can also edit information about themselves and other

employees.

Process Receipt. In this module, the system will provide customers receipts every time

he/she purchases a product.

Definition of Terms

For better understanding of the system, the following terms are defined on how

they use it in the system. These are the following:

Admin. The administration of a business or organization.

Client. The person who was interviewed and given the proposal of the system.

Inventory. A system that tells you the number of components or ingredients you need to

create or assemble your final product.

Inventory Management System. Allows a business owner to have more than one

business location and adequately keep track of inventory at each without being present
8

Payment. The action or process of paying someone or something or of being paid.

Point of Sale. Refers to the place where a customer executes the payment for goods or

services and where sales taxes may become payable.

Profit. A financial gain, especially the difference between the amount earned and the

amount spent in buying, operating, or producing something.

Proponent. A person who advocates a theory, proposal, or project.

Products. The items that are being sold in the system.

Stock. The goods or merchandise kept on the premises of a business.

REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE AND STUDIES

This chapter offers a summary of related literature and studies that have some

relevance to the research proposal on the inventory management system and the point-of-

sale system.

Related Literature

RC Cola Automated Inventory System

According to Amelounate (2011), RC Cola Orani Enterprise was established on

January 2008 catering to 20 sub dealers all over Bataan and 50 stores from Orani to

Balanga. The manner of operation is manual, thus every transaction is recorded and

solved manually. In terms of supply ordering process, all emptied bottles/cases are

delivered to the mother company located at Lubao, Pampanga; this is done if they reach

the maximum cases of 1,720 needed for hauling. When it comes to operation, the number

of cases of goods delivered to the sub dealers and stores are written on Daily Remittance

Report. However, the report cannot monitor if how many cases are available on the

warehouse or how many bottles/cases are missing.

The problem mainly concerns on the inventory. They are relying on physical count of

incoming goods and recorded on a piece of paper and transferred to a columnar book.

Every transaction on the outgoing of goods is being recorded to a Daily Record Book and

transferred to Daily Remittance Report. However, this process provides redundant

records, inaccuracy on their daily reports and make it hard for the management to
10

determine how many cases are still available in the warehouse and if these stocks are

enough to sustain the needs of their customers. If operations will stop due to availability

of stocks, it cost the company an estimated value of P 20, 000.00 losses on their income.

Bell Electronics Inventory System

According to Bchaney (2007), Bell Electronics Lab Corporation situated in

Calamba, Laguna is engaged in testing and assembly of optoelectronics and sensor

devices. The company is concentrating on its resources in program is towards the

development of other types of optoelectronic and sensors device packaging to support

their customer requirements. The PDA module is composed of bar code scanner to scan

issued and received items, and a Z8F6423 Zilog micro controller to sore the information.

A Product Inventory System (PIS) application program is also discussed to show how the

PDA module can be interfaced with the PIS. Test results presented in this paper will show

apparent improvement of company’s inventory system.

Inventory system is an effective way for monitoring and tracking different materials

that are transferred in and out of a company’s warehouse or establishment usually for

accounting purposes. It is also important for a company to monitor all the transactions

and movement of goods in order to keep an account of all their stocks. However, in some

establishments, the inventory of materials is done manually in such a way that an

employee writes down the information of different materials every time it is transferred in

and out of the room. The same case applies in Bell Electronics Corporation; and as a

result, the inventory system becomes prone to human error and would be more time

consuming which will most likely be a loss for the company. In Bell Electronics
11

Corporation, there is a corresponding form for every incoming or outgoing item (from the

stock room). These forms serve as the basis of comparison when inspecting; that is, the

amount of item that goes in or out must tally with those written in the forms. After-wards,

all the transactions will then be encoded.

Exact Globe Inventory System

Based on research by Exact Holding N.V. (2016), Exact Globe Inventory System is

an advanced information system and it is a fully integrated solution where orders, receipts

and deliveries are entered and available in real-time, presenting costs and quantities at the

time of inquiry. It saves time, eliminates confusion and gives you the power to make

decisions based on up-to-the minute information. It has Full Serial and Batch control for

trace and recall purposes and it can make use of 30 user-defined fields at the item level to

further describe inventory related properties. A Strong ability to perform ABC analysis

for fast / slow moving inventory management. Manage inventory in multiple warehouses

for costs and quantities as well as planning and production data Associate approved

suppliers with inventory, along with different supplier price lists. View detail Bill of

Material information within the main item master Assign landed costs for inventory

purchases for extraneous costs such as demurrage. Advanced functions for bar coding and

track & trace.

Wal- Mart’s: SMART Inventory System

According to Seanferd (2013), Wal-Mart uses the SMART inventory system which

is basically a tracking system that keeps track of all of Wal-Mart’s inventory as well as it
12

automatically re-order products that the store is either low or empty on. The SMART

system is though the Telxon which is a 900 MHz wireless hand-held terminal equipped

with bar code scanners. When the bar code is scanned the number of that item will show

up instantly as well as a short description of the product.

The advantage of the SMART system is that it has to be huge because products that

Wal-Mart do not carry will still scan and give out the relevant information so that it is

easier for people to return products. The SMART system is linked to the cash registers as

well as inventory is automatically update as products are sold. Hand counts are updated

as well as some products automatically updated. The main disadvantage of the SMART

system is that everything has to be coded with bar codes. Which can lead to additional

cost but the main key to an effective bar code system is to get as close as possible to the

bar code data source.

RFID Inventory System

According to Riordan (2019), Manufacturing inventory System: RFID-based

Tracking, the primary weak-link in the value chain of Riordan Manufacturing is the

manufacturing process of raw materials inventory tracking. This system continues

through the chain of manufacturing from the point the raw materials arrive until the final

product has been assembled and shipped. This method yields a system that is data

redundant, prone to human error on the data entry level, and presents an opportunity for

the data to be misinterpreted by the Inventory Clerk for the raw materials ordering.
13

Additionally, few to zero records are being produced that will enable analysis of

inventory levels (Riordan Manufacturing).

The purpose of this project will be to improve the manufacturing process by

implementing a new computer-based resource tracking system that will eliminate the

need for the Inventory Clerk to re-produce the forms into the Inventory PC. The new

system will allow the Inventory PC to do the tracking of raw materials upon all

throughout the manufacturing process. Raw Materials can then be ordered based on

known inventory levels, historical data of typical customer orders, and a number of other

factors that will be immediately accessible through the new system.

The new system will immediately be able to identify lost inventory, managers can

immediately track the inventory down and be able to identify trends if materials are

repeatedly lost at a certain point in the manufacturing process.

The Power of Point of Sale: Improving Growth, Profit, and Customer Service in a

Retail Business

This project highlights a systematic method for researching, identifying, and

recommending a new point of sale system for a retail business. The methodology is

broken down into three main sections: initial research and current process analysis a new

system and process evaluation, and comparison, and final recommendation.

The study features three main systems that the researcher used. The first is a Point of

Sale (POS) system, the second is an Inventory Management (IM) system, and the third is

a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system. Matthew Cote (2015)

Computerized Point-Of-Sales System Morale, Welfare, And Recreation Department

14

Long Beach, California

The study provided accounting records that were audited along with cash

management monitoring. Inventory controls, vendor participation, lead times, storage

capabilities, and quality of merchandise all were evaluated. Store personnel were

interviewed concerning- stockouts, physical inventories, perceived customer satisfaction

and current efforts required to keep the shop operating. Customers were queried

concerning desired additions or deletions to current services provided. Computer systems

available from several vendors were evaluated on the basis of satisfying the needs of the

shop, ease of installation/training and acquisition costs.

The study features a brief description of the shop they are conducting a research on

in making a system. The Pro Shop, the Navy Golf Course Pro Shop, is physically located

at Cypress California, 23 miles from the Long Beach Naval Station. Current

Situation/Problem, a physical inventory is manually performed every quarter by Pro Shop

personnel James J. Coltellaro (1990). The process is time consuming and labor

intensive, requiring the closure of the Pro Shop for two days while the entire staff work

eight hours a day to complete the task. Several options exist to alleviate the current

problems associated with the Pro Shop; they include: hiring more staff, reorganizing

management, increasing training, automating the cash register/accounting functions or

any combination of the above. They give a Likely Benefits is that a computerized point-

of-sales system can give the shop manager the information needed to make critical

decisions in a timely manner to increase sales, raise profits and, more importantly,

increase customer satisfaction.

Sales and Inventory Management System

15

The retail business vision is to maximize profit from customer satisfaction and

loyalty towards the store by providing more personalize service for the customer.

However, retail business also easy to lose its possible customer if they do not have

sufficient stocks in the store. Thus, in this paper, the developer had identified problem

related with inventory that exists in a one of oldest retail store in Taman Maju known as

Rahmath Store Rahmat Bee Abdul Aleem (2013). The major problem of the store is

they do not have proper inventory control system in guiding and managing their sale and

inventory level of the store.

By proposing Sale & Inventory Management System to the store as the replacement of

old manual ways, the project aims in providing system with enhanced and more flexible

functions to the store. The objective of the system is to provide functions in managing

goods in the store more efficiently. In order to achieve the objectives derived, the scope

of the project will focus on the aspects such as database, report generating, quality control

(QA) and point of sale of the store. Besides, the development of system will be based on

offline system or window based in developing the system, phase development prototype

is chosen. This methodology Wii perform the development stage in according to modules

underlines in the scope of the project.

Thus, version by version of the system will be developed before the whole complete

system is ready to use. The expected result of the system is that the user interface to be

developed will be user-friendly so that it can be handle easily by people with no IT

background. Besides, the system is also expected to serve its functions and helps

Rahmath Store in reducing time and paperwork in managing their inventory.

Point of Sales System with Inventory for ARM’s Food and Delicacies
16

According to A. Mendoza, A. Balbuena, T. Santos, B. Cabral, L. Agustin

(2019), Point of Sale System with Inventory is a PC based method for checking and

examining offers of the business; it is quicker and more robust instead of physically. The

framework can diminish mistakes in altering and can be effectively gotten to. Purpose of

Sale System with Inventory makes the business increasingly gainful, proficient and

helpful to the company and its clients. The ARM'S Food and Delicacies is a privately

owned company. Since ARM's Food Delicacies still uses the standard framework in their

business exchanges, that makes them experience a ton of issues like tedious in

investigating rack for the saleable things, physically looking at the lapse dates and of

stock things, exchange records have no paper stock piling and trouble in doing stock

reports.

Our proposed framework would be a significant help to all the procedure since it works at

a quick pace in filling in however many clients as could be expected under the

circumstances and helps screen a wide range of records in a faster, less demanding and

increasingly advantageous ways.

The framework is intended to enable the business to demonstrate progressively pertinent

things to the clients, planning to speed up and increment the deals and above all to build

the benefit of the company.

With the guide of Point-of-Sale System with Inventory, the executives can without much

of a stretch make predictable, dependable, and convenient choices. On the off chance that

records are required, these can be gotten to in mere seconds by merely seeking significant

data on the screen. All the data can be put away in a single document, rather than having

reams of paper and different records for every item that would require filtering through to
17

access in the manual framework. The fundamental motivation behind this examination is

to structure the Point of Sales with Inventory for ARM's food and Delicacies that is

progressively precise, increasingly effective and produce reports of the exchanges

quicker.

The proposed framework is fundamentally associated with processing, calculations,

and the rundown of every single budgetary record of pay rates of the organization's

present labor. As indicated by the Author Point of Sale System with Inventory for ARM's

Food and Delicacies will lead to decreasing the costs of the business which can be

utilized in their different costs. As indicated by the Author the examination will screen the

accessibility and the amounts of the stocks so as to avoid under stocking.

Computerized Inventory System and POS of Brothers Burger

According to J. Boguat, A. Ventutra, M. K. Oliver, E. Juelo (2015), the

important of Studying in inventory system is to keep track of the flow of goods.

Inventory system are designed to tell you where each product is going how much is being

sold when you need to order more and which products produce the greatest profit. All

business relies on inventory system play this vital role by accounting for all goods or

products. They also show where a particular item is in the flow of sales whether it is in a

warehouse or on a store shelf. The main purpose of inventory system is simple to enable a

business take stock and appropriately manage their goods and products. Inventory System

is a process done by a business that sells product in order to help analyze how the

business is performing.

Brothers Burgers established in 1999 at the height of Asian economic crises.

Brothers Burger is composed and managed by an all-Filipino team who strongly belie.
18

and advocate entrepreneurship. They started with one store in Ortigas. Pasig City. Their

company. now on its 14th year, has expanded and has a total of Twenty-One stores of

which Sixteen are Company owned stores and five are franchise stores. Locations are

generally in Metro Manila. and provincial sites, namely Baguio. Laguna. and Davao.

To achieve the aims & objectives of this project, the main things are to identify

the main features that involved in the system. In this scenario. there are two types of

users; they are Admin, users/ employee. All these users should be able to login to the

system with separate Authentications and limitations. New users can be registered only

under admin concern. This information can be retrieved given specifications and the

availability of the process are updated and done by the admin. So, there won't be

unavailability problem regarding to the criteria. The proponents are going to used Visual

Basic in making the system interface.

The proposed system includes company profile, how they perform application and

problem areas. It is computerized system that will reduce errors and cost by saving time

using data more effectively. In the manual Inventory System, a company needs to go

through a lot of work to do and the process is done one by one. However, on the

automated inventory system it’s just a button/click keyboard away to access the records

of transactions. The progression of the Inventory System will be presenting in this study.

Manual is a definition of something to work with a lot of exerting efforts by hands, and

are not the most efficient and good. Ifs a lot of work before you get the outcome.

Whereas the automates system is derived from “automation” meaning that is machine-

driven by a person or machine controlled with little or very less exertion of efforts, this it

makes easier to generate an output.

SYNTHESIS

The proponents will be expecting to develop a system that can be the best

alternative for existing common manual procedures of inventory management. A system

that can provide with the means of tracking inventory levels, give accurate sale reports,

provide a printed copy of receipts and keeping tabs on customers. A system that can

provide monthly reports of the business income. That is why the proponents want to help

to the said common problems, by building Efficient System Inventory with Point of Sales

for Aljoice Enterprise to be helpful, easy and effective system.

Table 2. Conceptual framework of the study

The conceptual framework has many interdisciplinary applications and is used to

convey systems fundamental in the overview of information technology education. It is

the preliminary investigation tool in the systems development processes. Data has to flow

into the application in some form. Input is the data flowing into the system from outside.

The next stage in the information flow is the input data being manipulated in some way.

Processing is the action of manipulating the input into a more useful form. The final stage

in the information flow is normally to present the information in a user-friendly way.

Output is the information flowing out of the system.

The conceptual framework shows the breakdown of the inputs and process made

to able to create the output in the development of the study. The inputs of the proposed

study include the knowledge requirements, software requirements, and hardware

23

requirements. This requirement shows the things necessary in developing and continuing

the study. The process on the other hand, includes the phases of the methodology applied:

requirement definition, high-level design, low-level design, coding, and testing.

Following these phases are significant in building a project systematically. Lastly, the

diagram shows the output which is the Efficient System Inventory Point of Sales for

Aljoice Enterprice.

METHODOLOGY

In this chapter the researchers discussed about the materials and methods used in

the system. The materials contain the specifications of the equipment’s used and other

requirements in order to build the system. It was first introduced in a paper published in

1970 by Dr. Winston W. Royce, the waterfall model is a software development process.

The waterfall model emphasizes that a logical progression of steps must be taken

throughout the Software Development Life Cycle is (SDLC), much like cascading steps

down the incremental waterfall. While the popularity of the waterfall model has

decreased over recent years in favor of more agile methodologies, the logical nature of

the sequential process used in the waterfall method cannot be denied and is still a

common design process in the industry.

Materials

During the development of the system the researchers used a computer with a

specification of Intel core i5 and Pentium Gold processor that has an operating system of

windows 10 64-bit. The software used in the development of the system are, PHP as the

programming language, MySQL for the system database, CSS, Html and JavaScript as

the front-end. For the prototype design the proponents used figma and Sublime text 3 for

the code editor. XAMPP MySQL database is for the reports and data of every inventory

items to support the system. The system can run in computer without an internet

connection with the use of browser.

Method

The study employed Waterfall technique. The waterfall model is a linear project

management approach, where stakeholder and customer requirements are gathered at the

beginning of the project, and then a sequential project plan is created to accommodate

those requirements. One such process that the proponents will be using is the “Waterfall

Model”. Waterfall model will be used in the development of the Efficient System

Inventory with Point of Sales for Aljoice Enterprise. The selected methodology

incorporates systematic development techniques to the project. Waterfall model is

discipline approach; it requires each stage of the system to be documented. Furthermore,

the correctness of the product is checked on each stage of the product building. This

ensures only the correct product that fulfills the user’s requirements are built during the

whole development process. Waterfall model is a sequential model where the

development process goes through a number of phases in a certain order. These phases

are requirements phase, system phase, coding, testing and implementation phase.

Figure 1. Waterfall Model by Dr. Winston W. Royce

Requirements Phase. Requirements phase involves gathering a useful amount of

information. It is very important to understand the client requirements and expectations

so that the finished product meets his specifications. The researchers obtain information

from the interview conducted with Mrs. Alicia Morada, the owner of the store. With this

information that was brought out, the researchers studied the existing process of the store.

System Design. This phase focused on the data requirements, the software

construction and the interface of the system. The researchers will follow the requirements

specified by the store needs and made use of the different tools such as entity-relationship

diagram (ERD), and data flow diagram in the developing design of the system.

Coding. This phase involves converting design specification into executable

programs. After approving the design of the proposed system, the researchers will create

the source code for the system where researchers will use CSS, Html, and JavaScript as

the front-end and PHP as the back-end and lastly, XAMPP MySQL as the Database of the

development of the system.

System Testing. This phase requires tester to complete various tests to ensure the

accuracy of the programmed code. Wrong codes are re-written and tested again until

desired output is achieved.

At this phase, the researchers will conduct system testing method such as user

acceptance test or acceptability test to ensure all the features of the system is functioning

as expected as well as the reliability of the system.

System Implementation. The implementation phase involves installing the

approved system into the store. Primary tasks include choosing the implementation

schedule, training end-users who will use the system and installing the product. After
which researchers will deploy and install the system in the store.

Instruments and Data Collection. The researchers will use the following data

gathering procedures in order to gather related information in the development of

Efficient System Inventory with Point of Sales for Aljoice Enterprise.

Interview Guide. In this phase, this is fact-finding techniques that are normally

done face-to-face but due to pandemic, it can also implement through phone calls and e-

mails. The researchers asked the client regarding the important requirements and

processes involved in inventory system of the store. The collected information’s were

analyzed in developing the system.

Internet Research. The researchers used the resources from the internet in

gathering relevant information. This will serve as a basis in the development of the

system.

Tools for Data Analysis. In this research, the following tools will be used for data

analysis: Entity relationship diagram (ERD), Context Diagram and Data Flow Diagram.

Entity-Relationship Diagram (ERD). ERD is a data modeling technique that the

researchers will use to create a graphical presentation and present the relationship

between entities with the system.
