Cumilla Workshop

A workshop titled “Using Social Media to Counter Radicalism” had been organized jointly by Aspire to
Innovate (a2i) Programme of ICT Division and District Administration, Cumilla at Cumilla DC Office.
Various stakeholders like teachers, students, religious leaders, entrepreneurs, police officers, local
administrations and journalists were present in the event on August 20, 2022.

Ms. Nahid Sultana Mallik, Joint Project Director (Joint Secretary), a2i had delighted the event as Chief Guest
while Deputy Commissioner of Cumilla Mr. Kamrul Hasan had presided over. Moreover, Additional Police
Superintendent M Tanvir Ahmed had represented the law enforcement agency at field level.

The workshop had been served as an implementation initiative of the Return-to-Work (RWP) of the training
course on this topic completed by Ms. Nahid Sultana Mallik at the University of Queensland, Australia. She
had made a brief presentation regarding counter radicalism using social media addressing all stakeholders
present. In addition, she had noted the incidents shared and answered the questions during open discussion
session. Everyone had interactively participated the workshop and requested to start initiative like “Teacher’s
School” and “Awareness Club” in Bangladesh similar to “Mother’s School” in Tajikistan.

ICT Tower Workshop

Aspire to Innovate (a2i) Programme had organized the second workshop on “Using Social media to Counter
Radicalism” at ICT Division on October 25, 2022. The interactive meeting had been presided over by Mr. NM.
Zeaul Alam, Senior Secretary, ICT Division and Her Excellency Ms. Nardia Simpson, Deputy High
Commissioner, Australian High Commission in Bangladesh had delighted the event as Guest of Honour.
Moreover, Mr. Imam Nahil, Manager of Australia Awards in Bangladesh had also been present.

On this issue, two presentations were given by Mr. Ishtiaque-ur-Rashid, Additional SP, Police Head Quarters
and Mr. Rubayet Bin Modasser, Digital Forensic Analyst, BGD e-GOV CIRT, Bangladesh Computer Council.

Multiple stakeholders were present from diverse backgrounds and a flow of interactive discussion had been
tailored followed by keynote speeches from the guests.

Ms. Nahid Sultana Mallik, Joint Project Director (Joint Secretary), a2i had completed a short course on this
topic from University of Queensland, Australia. As implementation initiative of her Return-to-Work (RWP)
Plan, this is the second workshop organized at ministry level. Everyone had expressed their solidary against
radicalism and suggested to organize more workshops regarding this challenging global issue.
