1) In the first case Dave is not morally responsible for his actions since he does not want

to kill Todd and had a muscle spasm which is out of his control. We can explain
Dave’s action with Hard Determinism because he is not responsible for his action and
external factors (brain tumor) determine his action.

2) For this case external events controlling Dave’s action for that reason he is not
morally responsible. We can see the Hard Determinisms affect in here because Dave
do not have free will to stop himself not to kill Todd because he was suffering from
shell shock and see hallucinations which is an external cause.

3) In this case Dave morally responsible because he chooses to go to a psychiatrist and

believe the psychiatrist. He can choose to not to believe the psychiatrist as well as he
can look out for better psychiatrists. I think we can say this is an example for
Compatibilism. For the reason that, Compatibilism determines free actions those that
are voluntarily people always act freely and responsible for their behavior, even
though their behavior is inevitable. In that case Dave have the free will to not go to
psychiatrists.

4) In this case Dave is morally responsible for his actions. He showing off the gun and he
was handling carelessly. So, he should be aware of guns are dangerous and could kill
people. In this case Dave has the whole responsibility for death of Todd. We can say
that this is an example for Libertarianism. Libertarians believe that we have the
capacity to be morally responsible.

5) For this case we can say that Dave is morally responsible for his action because he
has the capacity to not to drink that much alcohol. Maybe what Dave did is
unconscious but he has the will to not to be drunk. So, we can say this is an example
for Libertarianism. Because what Libertarians claim is free choices are grounded in
the free will of the person and hence are not the inevitable result of previous case.

6) In this case we can see the effects of Hard Determinism because Dave’s actions
determined by external functions. As B.F. Skinner said that a person’s behavior is
controlled by his genetic and environmental histories. In this case Dave is not
responsible for his parents and because his environmental history he tends to do
something aggressive. For that reason, Dave is not morally responsible his actions.

7) In this case we can say that Dave is morally responsible for his actions. Since he has
an affair with his friend’s wife and wanted to kill Todd. We can say that this an
example for Libertarianism because Dave has a freedom and capacity to not to kill his
friend Todd but Dave did it anyway.
