Team Games (Foot ball)


v Foot ball is presently the most popular game through out the world in terms of spectators
and participants because of these large number of peoples use their leasure time and
participate in football activities.
Historical background
v China and England were among those countries who started to play the game.
v Specially in England the game was believed to have been played in the form of competition
in prehistoric period.
v Modern history of football was started in 1863
v FA was the first foot ball organization in modern history of football
v FA quickly provided the first law of football association in 1863
v FA organized knock out competition in 1871
v In 1889 the clubs of England joined to form league competition
v Modern Olympic game was started in 1896
v In 1904 Olympic in St. Luois foot ball was introduced as an official Olympic sport for the
first time . Canada won the gold modal.
v FIFA- was founded in Paris on may 21,1904 by the following countries
- France - Holland - Sweden Spain
- Belgium - Denmark - Switzerland and
v The first world cup competition organized by FIFA was hold in Uruguay in 1930 and
Uruguay won the first world cup competition.
v In the first half of 1950 is union of European foot ball association (UEFA) and African foot
ball federation were formed.
v The world foot ball cup held a very 4 years organized by FIFA
v In Ethiopia foot ball was introduced by foreigner who reseeded in Addis Ababa in 1924

Rules of foot ball
Duration of the game
A match consists of two 45 minute halves with a 15 minute rest period in between.
Number of players
Each team can have a minimum off 11 players (including) goal keeper who is the only
player allowed to handle the ball within goal area.
Playing Area
The playing area is rectangular in shape.
The longer sides are called touch lines (side lines)
The other opposing sides are called the goal lines.
Two goal lines must be between 45 -90m wide and the same length,
The two side lines must be between 90-120m long.
Goals are placed at the center of each goal line.
The penalty spot is 11 meters in front of the very c enter of the goal.
Penalty spot is the point from where penalty kicks are taken
The center circle is marked at 9.15 meters from the center mark
The center line divides the court in two (45-90m length) center line is used to start the game (kick
off) kick-off is the method starting foot ball game.
Restarting the game
The game resumes with a kick off after the scoring of every goal and restarting by kick off from
the center line.
Scoring
Goals or points resulting from players putting the ball between two goal posts.
Fundamental skills of the game.
v The fundamental skills of foot ball are controlling the ball passing the ball, Dribbling (running
with the ball) and shooting the ball.
v Both kicking and receiving skills are unsparated in foot ball game.
v Controlling the ball is the first and most important skill of foot ball player.
Passing
v It is way of exchanging a ball between two players
v Giving and receiving a ball bet went two players.
Types of passing
1. Passing a ball with inside foot
v It is the most accurate passing skill (kicking skill)
v It can be performed if the distance between two players will be very short.
2. Passing the ball with outside foot
v Giving and receiving a ball with out side part of the foot.
v Used to exchange a ball for a long distance
3. Full in step
v Exchange a ball with frontal part of he foot.
v It is the most power full passing or kicking technique in foot ball game
Kicking
Kicking means controlled passing and shooting
v Kicking the ball with inside foots is the most accurate kicking technique in foot ball
game.
v Receiving with the knee is used to receive a ball coming toward the knee height.
v Different skills have their own techniques.
