I. Give Brief Explanation For The Following Questions.

1. Write one Paragraph Summary about the historical background of football.
- A long, long time ago, some people used to play games that looked like
football today in some parts of the world. China and England were among
these countries that started to play the game. Especially, in England, the
game was believed to have been played in the form of competition in the
prehistoric period. The history of football was started in 1863. This was the
period in which thirteen men representing football clubs from England and
Scotland met to formally organize the game. The group did not agree on the
use of hands and feet in the game. So, the two camps split. One founded
Rugby Union Football and the other established Football Association (FA).
FA quickly provided the first laws of Football Association in 1863 and the
sport of modern football (soccer) began.
2. Describe the nature and purpose of football.
- Football is the most popular sport in the world. It can be played by young
and old, boys and girls, by elite and physically or mentally challenged and
on a small or wide field. To play football, all that is needed is a ball, willing
to participate, and unwritten laws of fair play. In your football game
participation, you can develop, cardiovascular endurance, cognitive,
competitive, and psychomotor abilities.
3. Write the name of the countries that founded FIFA.
- France, Belgium, Holland, Denmark. Sweden, Switzerland, and Spain.
 4. Draw the field of football and its measurements.

5. Write the responsibilities of the football referee and appointed referee.

The first responsibility of the referee is to control the game on the field of play,
while the duties of the two linesmen are:
- To signal when the ball is out of the sidelines and the goal lines.
- To show signals when an offensive (attacking) player is offside.
- To control the corner kick area (spot).
- One of them, to signal when a player is going to be changed or replaced, by
raising his/her flag.
- To point to the goal kick area.
The appointed referee should have the following materials when he/she comes into
the field of play:
- Two good whistles
- Two reliable watches
- A coin, a notebook, and a pencil.
- Yellow and red cards.
The two linesmen must have:
- A flag with contrasting colors.
- A watch and a whistle in case of emergency.
6. What is offside mean? Describe clearly.
- Offside means if you are nearer the goal line of the opponent before the ball
passes in the air or the ground. You will not be offside if you are in your half
field of play, or if you receive the ball from a direct goal kick or throw in or
if the ball is dropped by the referee.
7. Write and define the basic techniques of football.
- The basic techniques of football are: kicking, receiving, and dribbling.
Kicking:​ In a football game. Many parts of your body take part in kicking
the ball. But the most kicking technique is performed by your foot. Kicking
means controlled passing and shooting.
Receiving:​ There are numerous ways of receiving. You will learn the
simplest and the most common methods of the receiving/trapping these are
receiving with the inside of the foot and receiving with the sole of the foot.
Dribbling:​ There are numerous ways of dribbling, the most common and
effect are: dribbling with inside of the foot.
8. Write the different kinds of kicking in football games.
- When the ball approaches, contact the ball with the outer edge of the foot.
- Kick the ball to the planned direction.
- Turn your toe inward while kicking.
- Follow through after kicking the ball, the non-kicking leg relaxed and flexed.
9. List the system of playing football.

10.What are the roles of defensive players in football?
- Clear the ball to avoid maximum risk.
- Maintain possession.
- Play the ball wide and safe.

- The baton must be passed inside the 20-meter passing zone. If it is not
passed in this exchange zone the team will be disqualified.
- The baton must be carried in hand throughout the race.

- A baton dropped inside the zone may be collected by another.

13.Write the phases of the high jump.
These phases are the ​approach​ phase, the plant/takeoff phase, and the flight phase.
14.Write the techniques of shot put.
- The grip

15.Describe how to hold a shot properly.
The s​ hot​ is held at the base of the fingers, not the palm. The fingers are slightly
spread apart with the thumb for support. The hand will be bent back in the cocked
position when h ​ olding the shot.​
