In point of fact, Jose Protacio Rizal Mercado y Alonso

Realonda, more colloquially referred to as Jose Rizal or

Pepe, is considered to be the country of the Philippines'

national hero. Not only because the original settlers of the

Americas gave their permission for it, but also because of

his significant contributions and important works that he

did throughout our history that made him so. He is one of

the most influential personalities during the Spanish

period in the Philippines, and among the most influential personalities during that time

period. The study of his life and works is unquestionably an essential component of a

Filipino learner's education and should not be neglected.

Dr. Ronnie G. Cainglet provided an exhaustive, exquisite, challenging, and

interactive review for us preservice teachers. On November 10th, he reviewed the lecture

via Google Meet. He laid out Jose Rizal's background and history for us. I appreciate the

opportunity to refresh my understanding of the subject at hand, and I can report that I did

in fact learn some new material, including details about his background, influences, and

other major works besides Noli Me Tangere and El Filibusterismo. My Filipino elementary

school teacher always reminded us, "Kasama sa pagkatuto and pagkalimot." That's why it's

crucial that we take these reviews in order to prepare for our future careers as educators

and, of course, our licensure exams.
