NOTES TO DESIGNER:
See Part 2 of this manual, Chapter 30: Fencing (Pedestrian), and Chapter 6: Geometrics
(Pedestrian and/or Bicycle Facilities).
Standard shall be used for non-vehicular applications only. It shall not be used as a traffic barrier.
Use this standard for a pedestrian bridge as shown on File No. 06-04-6, shared use path bridge
as shown on File No. 06.04-7, or behind a traffic barrier on the outside of a shared use path as
shown on File No. 06.04-8 (detail for design speed > 45 mph).
The District Structure and Bridge Engineer shall select the fence material (galvanized or vinyl
coated steel) and color (if vinyl coated).
Design Loads:
Wind effect (exposed area): 4.5 sq. ft. per lin. ft.
For projects with initial bituminous overlay, modify details so that dimensions shown to roadway
surface will be established from top of overlay.
NOTES:
“Chain link fabric, posts, rails and other associated hardware shall be ______”. (Specify color
and vinyl coated steel or galvanized steel. If vinyl coating is specified, include the following as
well.) “Bolts, excluding threads, shall have the same vinyl coating. Threaded inserts shall not be
vinyl coated.”
“All reinforcing steel shall be Corrosion Resistant Reinforcing Steel, Class __.”
Enter the dimensions for RG0401 and RG0402, and add the lengths of the RG bars to the table.
