Hormones help us to change our body and emotions categorized by our

mind. The emotions are- anger, angst, affection, anguish, annoyance,

anxiety, apathy, happiness, sadness, etc. Some hormones are those that
produce hormones easily like serotonin. Serotonin gives us happiness.
The nervous system senses the emotion from the brain and sends the
hormones a message and they get released. Some hormones can
change our body causing puberty. In boys, puberty takes place when
the facial hair grows, under arm’s hairs grow. Testosterone is present
in boys and oestrogen is present in girls. In girls, puberty takes place
when their symptoms seem like their hips widen, chest widen. The
hormones are always present in our blood and blood veins. We grow
due to hormones. Example- Our height grows due to hormonal change.
Physical hormonal changes do not change back, they are permanent.
Some hormones are produced when we are in anxiety and lead us to
depression. And when depression hormone is released it is very hard
to change it back to normal.
Let’s see some Hormones in detail-

Serotonin- It is called the Happy hormone. It regulates a wide range of

physiological and biological functions including mood, arousal,
aggression, thinking abilities and memory. The right level of serotonin
is related to relaxation and mood upliftment.
Dopamine- It is a neurotransmitter released by the hypothalamus (part
of the brain) and it is involved in focus, attention, memory drive,
muscle control and ovulation. Low levels of dopamine in the body can
lead to depression, impulsivity, mood swings, etc. It also motivates us
to get interested in the same topic. Dopamine helps us to promote in
our work.

Oestrogen- It is the primary sex hormone for women that is released

from the ovaries. The effect of oestrogen on emotions is due to its
ability to increase serotonin and endorphins, chemicals that are
associated with positive mood states.

Progesterone- Is a female sex hormone produced by a temporary

gland. Within the ovaries called the corpus luteum and plays a key role
in reproduction. Our brain is highly responsive to progesterone
concentrations. If an imbalance in progesterone and oestrogen might
lead to anxiety, insomnia and migraine.

Oxytocin- It is called the bonding hormone. It is made the part

hypothalamus and released into the blood by the pituitary gland. It
plays an important role in pro-social behaviour sexual reproduction
and when a baby is born. It evokes feelings of contentment, security
and reductions in anxiety level.

Testosterone- A hormone produced by the testes in

males and to a smaller extent in ovaries present in a
woman. It helps in muscle building, increasing libido,
bone mass, muscle strength and energy level.
Testosterone also influences the parts of the brain. It is eligible for
emotion. People with higher levels of testosterone have significantly
less activity in prefrontal brains areas and less communication
between the prefrontal brain and the amygdala (the emotion control in
the brain). Ultimately increases the chances of aggressiveness,
depression, impulsivity, anger, mood swings and lower levels of
empathy.

Cortisol- Cortisol has a number of

functions. It promotes normal
metabolism, maintains blood sugars
levels. The hormone cortisol is produced
by the adrenal gland. It helps us to stay
healthy and energetic. Its main work is to
control physical and psychological stress.
In dangerous conditions, it increases
heart rate, respiration, blood pressure. In
stressful times body triggers cortisol to
handle stress. The stress-free hormone is very useful many times.
Cortisol is also produced from testes in boys and men. It also triggers
when the person very anxious or is in depressions. It also is good for
us when we are stressed or in depression. It can be helpful in the times
when our minds think someone has left us
