EMIRATES FLIGHT CATERING CO.

LLC , DUBAI, UAE

Emirates Flight Catering is the largest flight catering kitchen the world. Starting at a modest 50,000 meals a
day in 2003 in Phase 1 the new modern Kitchen known as EKFC Phase 2 is designed to handle 110,000
meals a day. Phase started operation in 2007 after the client was extremely satisfied with the Phase 1
delivery in 2003.

During Phase 1 the client had only opted for the Envac system in the ware wash area with three Trash
Waste Inlets at the end of the tray conveyor and stripping belts. The hygienic, easy and quick waste
removal and handling technology demonstrated by Envac was very clear to the client that this systems was
the most efficient ways of getting rid of waste and solved a lot of their health and safety issues and
ensured a hygienic environment and modern approach to waste handling.

With the growth of the Dubai International Airport the new facility was commissioned and designed
keeping Envac and its various bespoke solutions in mind. Today EKFC has over three systems managing
110,000 meals and close to 100 tons of waste per day. The systems cater cover 6 lines of conveyors
stripping waste from incoming flight. Bulky waste like bottles and paper are shredded separately. Kitchens
are equipped with screw feeders, Trash chutes, Baggage carousels, and cardboard balers. The system
consists of both 323mm and 219mm dia pipes and special dewatering systems at specific inlets to ensure
that waste is collected and disposed effectively. The collection station waste separators are connected to a
screw feeder conveyor which diverts incoming waste into an available container.

Truly Envac Kitchen Waste Systems at EKFC today have ensured that waste created from meals prepared
for over 45 million passengers who depart or transit thru’ Dubai are disposed effectively, hygienically and
safely.

JUMERIAH BEACH RESIDENCE, DUBAI UAE

Jumeirah Beach Residence is the single largest residential development in the world, 40 towers comprising
of 36 residential towers and 4 five star hotels spanning a built up area of 22 million sqft across 7 podiums
interconnected at podium level. The towers span various heights from 28 to 55 floors and comprise 6970
apartments, 70,000 sqm of retail and leisure and 5 parking levels.

Although JBR was not designed with an automated waste system in its concept, Envac presence in UAE in
2003 around the time construction started saw the developer very keen to incorporate the systems which
can be deemed as a retrofit since we had to design the systems keeping in mind the existing spaces
available in the tower cores.

The lack of truck access to the 83 waste rooms in the building meant that traditional bins had to be
wheeled out in the wee hours every morning for collection by over 17 compactor trucks. This would have
been a marathon exercise and the Envac solution was seen as a very viable alternative for the developer.
With over 10 million sqft of liveable area this development generated over 33 tons of waste per day. The
average cost of investment for the developer was around USD 1000 / apartment and the operation cost
about 1/5th that of traditional waste collection.

The system spans the 1.7 km long development with over 6km of pipes interconnecting 83 waste rooms to
2 collection stations. 66 inlets connect 40 towers and 17 inlets are spread across the retail area. Due to the
high load of the restaurants and retail area Envac has provided over 4 screw tank feeder inlets exclusively
as a retrofit after 3 years of operation.

Today JBR has fulfilled its name as a destination of living a “lifestyle of a lifetime” in a very short period of
time making it as a desired place to live in. The destination with its plethora of beach side restaurants,
cafes and high end shopping district is bustling with activity every night. Needless to say the JBR is a
flagship project for Envac in the region of Middle East and prospective clients and visitors are spell bound
when they see the system in operation.

MARINA 101, DUBAI MARINA, DUBAI UAE

Marina 101 is an iconic structure that will stand tall on Dubai’s skyline. Destined to become the
world’s tallest hotel and furnished apartments. The Marina 101 is the Sheffield Group’s flagship
brand and is designed to meet sky- high expectations of an elite group of clientele. This 101 storey
high building located in “new Dubai” also called the tallest block on the planet. It houses 40
stories as a hotel managed by the Crowne Plaza Group and has residential accommodation spread
across the other floors.

To be developed at an investment of over AED 1.2 billion, in association with EMAAR, and rises
412 metres and covers an area of approximately 1.65 million square feet. Strategically located in
the prestigious Dubai Marina, Marina 101 offers elegantly styled 252 One Bedroom, 204 Two
Bedroom and 42 Three Bedroom apartments crowned with 8 luxury duplex penthouses.

Resting on 7 level podium car park level the building generates 3- 4 tons of waste per day.

The value seen by the architect and client was immediate as only Envac was capable of moving
the waste without manual interference by 50m which was required to move the waste from the
middle of the plot to the car park adjacent to the road for trucks to access. Moving the waste
room released the space in the ground floor which allowed for the space previously allocated to
the waste room to be a spacious lobby restaurant and part of public spaces for the hotel.

MSHEIREB PROPERTIES – HEART OF DOHA, Doha, QATAR

The Msheireb - Heart of Doha project is designed to accommodate an estimated population mix
comprising 2,226 residents, 2,930 retail employees, 12,286 offices employees within an area of
303,243 sqm of residential floor space, 253,906 sqm of commercial area and 151,611 sqm of hotel
and amenities areas.

As each occupier and transient equivalent will generate various types of waste, it is designed to
segregate and collect waste in three fractions; comprising of organic, residual, and recyclable
refuse. The segregated waste streams will be separately collected and transported to a waste
collection facility, via a unique horizontal vacuum pipe network system.

In order to keep the waste fractions separated, each waste type must be sorted correctly when it
is disposed into the system from source, therefore in each outdoor location there will three
separate inlets that will allow the occupant and transient to dispose into the correct waste type
inlet.

The installation of the Automated Waste Collection System is expected to handle about 184.12
m3 per day or 27.618 T/day with a specific weight of 150 kg/ m3 for residual waste, 100 kg/ m3
for recyclable and 250 waste density for organic/wet fraction. This volume of waste will be
generated by 2,226 inhabitants and 405,517 m2 of commercial areas including retail shops,
restaurants, public areas, hotels, offices, and school.

Due to size of the project and the constraints in handling the waste both in terms of volumes,
distances and number of inlets, One (1) Automated Collection Stations is proposed with 3 waste
container in order to have enough capacity to accumulate one day waste generated in all phases.
3 additional containers have been provided one for each fraction.

Envac ME won this tender which was a global bid against our competitors from Europe, Asia and
Korea.

Project Profile – Middle East Region Page 15 of 20

This project is unique as this will be the first project in the ME with a access card readers,
weighing mechanism incorporated in the inlet doors which will weigh and dispose the waste and
also have a record of all users

Mohammed Al-Marri, Projects Director of Msheireb Properties said, “The Gulf’s remarkable
growth story has also affected the environment to a degree, which is why offsetting the impact of
any development is at the heart of Msheireb Properties’ vision. With this system from ENVAC,
combined with an education campaign for all residents, we can ensure Msheireb Downtown is at
the forefront of the world’s ‘Green cities’ movement.”

“That aspect of education is critical to getting the most out of this system. Recycling, however, still
isn’t necessarily upper-most in people’s minds, which is why we in partnership with ENVAC are also
putting together a program which will put in place workshops on how to use ENVAC, as well as
organizing visits to the collection centre to see how the waste is collected and segregated.

“We are confident that through education programs such as these, future residents of Msheireb
Downtown will make the neighbourhood’s green credentials a real point of pride.”
