3 - LIGHT SCAVENGER

Properties or
Interaction with Light
Observation (What do
I observed: (opaque, transparent,
you noticed?)
translucent, reflected,
refracted)

Aligning a see-through object I notice that lights can go

(Figure 1) through in a see-through
objects letting the object from TRANSPARENT
the other side visible for our
eyes.
Placing a Flashlight behind I notice that the all of light
the see-through object from the flashlight can pass
TRANSPARENT
(Figure 2) through a see-through object
.
Placing a Flashlight behind I notice that in a book, there
the book (Figure 2) is no light that could pass OPAQUE
through the other side.
Placing a Flashlight behind I notice that some of lights
the tissue (Figure 2) TRANSLUCENT
can pass through the tissue.
Pencil placed inside a half I notice that the portion of
full glass of water (Figure 3) pencil went bigger when it
REFRACTED
was submerge through the
water.
Placing an object in front of I notice that mirror creates
mirror (Figure 4) an inverted image of same REFLECTED
object placed on it’s front.

I conclude that there are properties on object that had different interaction with light. Transparent or see-
through objects, apparently can pass through all lights it receives that allow us to clearly see through
them, while in translucent objects, only some of light could pass through and partially see through them.
On the other hand, there is no light that could pass through the opaque objects that means we cannot
see through them at all. In figure 3, the object has appeared to be bended since the light has been
refracted as it passes from air into water and other transparent materials. On the last figure, the object
that placed in the front of mirror got reflected as it creates an inverted image of the same object where it
moves from one transparent medium into another.
