GROUP 1: CHALLENGES ENCOUNTERED BY THE ENTREPRENEURS OF SARI-

SARI STORE IN SELECTIVE TOWNSHIP OF BATAAN

Scope and Delimitation

The general intent of this study is to determine the challenges encountered by the

entrepreneurs of the sari-sari store business during the second semester of the school year 2021-

2022. The study will be conducted in the selective township of Bataan, specifically in the

Municipality of Dinalupihan, Hermosa, Orani, Abucay, Balanga, and Pilar. The selection of

respondents are only the owners of sari-sari stores and limited only to the thirty (30) respondents

of the selective township of Bataan. The researchers decided to divide the number of respondents

needed by the number of municipalities included in this study to balance the information

gathered. Therefore, the researchers will randomly choose five (5) sari-sari store owners in each

municipality who will be the respondents in this study. Howbeit, mini-mart stores are not

included even though they are selling the same product as the sari-sari store. Since the challenges

of sari-sari store owners are the subject of this study, sari-sari store owners are the respondents of

this research study. The researchers had been using a mixed methods research design and

descriptive statistics. In general, mixed methods research refers to research wherein the

quantitative and qualitative data are collected, analyzed, and interpreted in a scientific study or a

series of studies that look into the same underlying phenomenon. Mixed methods research takes

advantage of the benefits of both qualitative and quantitative approaches, allowing researchers to

look at things from different perspectives and discover connections between the levels of the

varied research subjects. This research method is suitable for the present study wherein the

descriptive method as a fact of finding study with an adequate and accurate interpretation of the

findings, it describes with emphasis what exists such as current condition, situation, or any
phenomena. To get information about challenges encountered by the entrepreneurs of a sari-sari

store in the selective township of Bataan, the researchers will use the interview and questionnaire

methodology. To gather data, the researchers will prepare structured interview questions and a

survey questionnaire that is looking to collect data to determine the impact of the topic on the

subject.
