We Are God’s Beloved Children

O n this First Friday of the year 2023 we joyfully gather
to express our love for the Sacred Heart of Jesus
and ask for the Father’s blessing on ourselves, the
people dear to us, and, indeed, the whole of mankind.
Just as Jesus began his apostolic life with an act of humil-
ity and obedience to the Father when he was baptized in the
Jordan, so we renew our allegiance to our heavenly Father
in imitation of Jesus, and ask to be guided by the Holy Spirit
throughout this new year. May the Father say to us today and
always what He said to Jesus at the Jordan: “You are my be-
loved children. With you I am well pleased!”
