Dear parents or guardians of ________________________,

Hello! My name is Rebekah Paseornek and I am so excited to be your child’s teacher this year! Let me
tell you a little bit about myself. I am a graduate of Boston University with a degree in hospitality
administration. I recently changed careers and received my Alternate Certification in Teaching. I am so
excited to have your child in my class and look forward to an exciting year!

I am sure there are many questions about what we will be learning, our activities, and of course
homework and grading. I will be distributing a weekly schedule that will give an outline of what we will
be doing each day and that will be in your child’s binder. I will be giving homework each night on
weekdays that should take about 20 minutes to complete. The assignments are due the following day
and all of this information will be gone over in class. If it is not turned in on time, I will discuss with your
child how I can help. If it does happen more than once, I will contact you so we can work together to
solve the problem.

I do also expect 20 minutes of reading per night. This can be done in a variety of ways. You can read to
your child, have them read to you, or have them read independently. This is so important for their
reading development and improvement throughout the year! We will be going to the library weekly and
all children will be given a chance to check out books they are interested in!

I look forward to meeting with you throughout the year so that we can work on your child’s success
together! I have set up a Class Dojo account where you can message me if needed. The instructions are
attached to this email. Also, please let me know if you would like to set up a conference and we will
make it happen! If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to me. I am so excited for this
year and look forward to getting to know your children this year!

Thank you,

Rebekah Paseornek
