Lesson 18A – Head early base

This is the final test fold, and will be in 3 parts – Early Base, Late Base, and Shaping. All that’s
left after this is the full upper half, then connecting the halves and finishing.

There are many diagonal precreases in this lesson. Most of them are only to assist in the Early
Base collapse. Much work in 12B and 12C will be with new creases.

Use your completed folds from Lessons 14, 16, and 17 as references while folding.

The base collapse begins similar to Lesson 16’s Early Head Base Lite, then you must work
between the left & right halves of the collapse area while working in the neck connection from
Lesson 17.

As with Lesson 12B, here is a cross-reference guide for the collapsing process-

18A (91-96) 14 (7-25)

18A (129) 15 (21-22)

18A (135-136) 16 (30)

18A (138-141) 16 (32-38, but only on one side)

18A (143-148) 17 (16-30)

18A (149) 16 (39)

18A (150) 17 (31-32)

18A (151-153) 16 (39-43)

The paper used for this guide is 24” / 60cm kami. I recommend a similar size sheet or larger (up
to 36” / 90cm.) Head details will be somewhat small even with a 24” sheet.
