KAALAMAN SA DENGUE

Dengue is the most rapidly spreading viral vector borne disease nationwide. In the absence
of vaccine and drugs, prevention of dengue fever and its more severe forms is of the utmost
importance. Rapid responses to dengue are needed in order to control the spread of the virus and
to manage the high number of cases. A wide range of different interventions have been
implemented for the safety and protection of the pupils.

In line with this, as part of the brigade eskwela ‘22 program Mrs. Laksmi A. De Guia,
teacher of Grade VI pupils in Maite Elementary School conducted a seminar about some ways to
avoid dengue to kinders-grade VI pupils. This seminar brings awareness to every pupil in the
school that dengue can cause serious illness and death among children, and that every member of
the community has an important role here.

She also discusses the 4S in dengue prevention and control and this are:
1. Search and Destroy
2. Self-Protection Measure
3. Say no to indiscriminate fogging and
4. Seek early consultation.

At the end of the discussion the pupils was allowed to ask questions about the topic and
they were answered precisely by the teacher.
