PASS1 - UNIT 2A (1ST SESSION)

2. Lead In: Teacher asks Ss: What are some general problems that you have? How do you
react to them?
3. Introduction of Vocabulary: Power Point Presentation. Collocations with Problems.
Prediction. “What is happening and what is the boy doing about it?” Ss match the verbs
with the meaning of each one. Page 12-5A. Ss match the verbs with the sentences and
discuss if they know a person similar to each example. Page 12-6. Listening.
4. Introduction of TL: page 10-1. Starting Point. Ss discuss each experience in pairs and give
opinions and recommendations about them. Elicit ways to regret or to recommend about
past events with past modals and phrasal modals.
5. Clarification (MFP)
- M (Definition and examples)
- F (Modal + have + past participle; modal + verb in base form)
- Pronunciation (Reduction of Should have, could have, would have, etc)
6. Controlled practice: page 11-3B,C.
7. Feedback.
8. Freer practice: Ss write a situation similar to those in exercise 1 talking about a problem
they had in the past. Mingle Activity: They go around the classroom telling everyone their
problem and giving advice and choose which advice is the best.

PASS1 - UNIT 2B (2ND SESSION)

1. Review of previous class: Board: Ss correct the incorrect sentences.

4. Lisa was supposed to cleaning up the house / Lisa was supposed to clean up the

Photocopiable 2.1.. Board game. Ss play using the structures.
2. Lead In: Teacher asks Ss to discuss about something that they recently saw that was
surprising or strange. Discuss if they are sure about what they saw.
3. Introduction of Vocabulary: page 16-4. Vocabulary.
4. Introduction of TL: page 14-1. Starting Point. Ss read the article and discuss the opinions
about the reactions. Elicit ways to give opinions about past events.

PASS 1 – UNIT2 Skills Class: Reading/Writing.

1. Lead In: Teacher asks Ss: “What is amnesia? What might cause it?”
2. Prediction: Teacher copies the title on the board and asks Ss to predict what the text is
about.
3. Introduction of the Text: page 17-6. “Amnesia Spoils newlyweds’ bliss”
4. Reading for specific information: page 17-6B. Ss check true or false.
5. Read for details: Second time to read: Ss answer these questions:
a. Where are Amy and Sean from?
b. Did Amy contact her parents when Sean didn’t appear again?
c. How long had their relationship lasted before the marriage?
d. How did a psychiatrist describe Sean’s case?
e. Did Sean regret marrying Amy when he got his memory back?
6. Speaking: Ss discuss page 17-6C.
7. Productive Skill: Writing: Ss rewrite the story giving it their own twist. (From 7 to 10 lines)
